I wanted to buy one of these but am put off by the charger. The UE mega boom seems to be able to be charged via micro USB with a normal phone charger - whereas this requires you to use the charger that comes in the box.

Might not annoy everyone but as I would be moving this speaker around a lot it would be nice not to have to remember to carry a specific charger with it.

Hopefully a new model is being announced?

We've had one of these for 18 months (love it), not used very often, aus stock and I've just had to request a repair 6 months out of warranty. Every time I try to play a song it turns off after 10 seconds and the unit won't charge any more. It only works with the cable plugged in. Looking around the net this is a common problem with this model.

I am yet to get a response from JBL. My point is that I would hate to be stuck with no warranty on this unit. It will be interesting to see if the brand still means anything and they stand by their product.
