Dimmi - 1/2 Price Food at Selected Restaurants Syd Melb Adelaide Brisbane Perth Canberra Selected Days in July

2080

Dimmi is running their half-price dining deals again at various restaurants (over 30 for Sydney) including some well-reviewed ones. You book for a slot for the offer without having to pay upfront, and you can cancel later if you can't make it. Note that half price is for food only, drinks are full price, and you can only book it for certain days (usually weekdays) and time slots. There is also a limited number of slots (30-40) per restaurant.

Note: Not all restaurants are offering 50% off entire food menu - several of them seem are specifying menu items/banquets that quality for the offer. Please read the offer on the restaurant page located above the dates. Your booking confirmation email will also tell you what the offer is for.

  • Criniti in darling Harbour and Bavarian Bier Cafe in Chatswood and Sydney would recommend.

Via della Spiga was okay but really convenient in North Sydney, its beside train station.

    • doesn't seem like the Darling harbour criniti's is included in this promo.

      • Ah I thought it was there. Wooloomoloo and Manly is there.

  • Nice! Most of the Adelaide ones are normally way too expensive for me to eat at

Are the discounts passed on to the restaurants or does Dimmi cop it? Whenever I go to restaurants that are offering massive discounts on behalf of an aggregator the staff are usually pretty pissed about the whole thing and are usually pretty surly and rude.

    • +10

They make you feel like you're robbing them in broad daylight, ruins the whole experience most of the time. The other half of the time, you can't find any staff that knows about the discounts.

    • +1

Hmm I have not experienced rudeness with Dimmi or voucher deals so far, but I tend to book early for timeslots that are earlier so the restaurant is not too busy when we turn up. Maybe they're less stressed at those times? Dunno.

Half price food likely means your likely give half the regular tip.

      • +15

        You tip, in Australia?

        • +9

Lots of places are trying to push it by having an extra (and awkward af) tip option when you a pay by card. STOP TRYING TO MAKE TIPPING HAPPEN.

        • @chu-oh:
Just ask them, do you want a tip?

          Be good to your mother.

        • +3

Tipping in Australia is one of the most cultural-cringy things ever.

        • Really comes to the price of the meal and the venue, and the group your with

Anything over $25 pp might get the coin change.

Oh any charity box will get my 5c. How much it cost a charity to accept my donation is their problem.

    • +1

I haven't had that, for me the group buy deals get us that attitude.

      • I understand that the restaurant have to pay the group buy companies a very large cut. I'm not sure what the percentage is, but at one stage some source on the internet said that Groupon US took 50%. I don't know what the situation is now for Australia, but if it was anything like that, the restaurant might only be getting 25% of the menu price. But then again I see many restaurants that keep running deals - so it's confusing as to why they would be unhappy with people utilising the deal, since they have made the business decision to do so.

  • +1

    Highly recommendend Riley St garage

    • I like this restaurant too but it never has discount lol

    • It says 50% off dining, but I can also see it says 50%off the $90 dining banquet, so I'm assuming only that is part of the promotion? Was ready to go, but wifey is vegetarian so that's not going to work.

  • +1

Awesome! thank you! perfect timing for my trip to Sydney to see Arsenal!

  • Any Brisbane recommendations?

    • +1

The wife and I are fans of The Walnut, although we've always got the set menu when we go.

  • Cheers OP. Booked Pomodoro Sardo in Melbourne. :)

  • +1

No 1 Bent Street by Mike (Sydney) is excellent.

    • No date available :(

  • Great deals.. there's our weekly dinner out sorted for the next month :)

  • +1

They need to start including more restaurants for Perth. 4 is just ridiculous.

  • +1

    Booked for Ormeggio, thanks op!

  • +1

    Any melb recommendations?

    • +1

Not a local but you should be able to see the review scores to help your decision.

    • See my comment below.

    • Sardo was pretty good. The food is a little slow to come out, but it's damn delicious.

  • Is 50% off the whole bill or just one person with Dimmi account ?

    • +3

It is 50% off the whole bill for food only, not drinks. :)

      • Thanks for confirming.

    • Do check the individual restaurant page though, sometimes the offer is for a specific menu/banquet.

  • As far as I know you can't use your Dimmi points voucher with these type of offers. Could anyone please confirm?

    • I think you are correct

  • South Wharf Meat Market - 34 left, if you are in Melbourne and like meat, this place rocks.

  • Thanks OP! Booked public dining room for dinner. I only go there when it's 50% off.

    • Nice :)

  • +2

Just used for lunch at Firecheif in Camberwell (VIC). Worked well 5 ate for $55 total

    • +1

Oh yes I do recommend this place, had the lamb salad was delicious!

  • Definitely recommend Delhi O' Delhi in Newtown. Delicious Indian food with very good service!

    • Thanks I was thinking of booking here but wasn't sure of quality of food. I will book based on your review.

  • +1

Does anyone know whether I can use the 50% off + $20 Dimmi Rewards food voucher at the same time? =)

    • Pretty sure you can't buy you should be able to pay with liven if applicable

      • @drillvoice: Have you tried this? I made a booking with Dimmi and would love to pay with Liven! Obviously I'll ask - the worst they can say is no - but would love to know your experience.

        • +1

I haven't tried this but I think the key thing is that they apply the Dimmi discount and then say "your bill is X" where X is discounted. Then you could say "great thank you, can I pay with Liven?". Dimmi is for bookings, Liven is for payments, so in theory you are laughing.

        • @drillvoice: Ahhhh - true! I will give it a try then :D

  • +2

My friend's a food blogger and we'd recommend Firechief, Meat Market, Bangpop. :)

Thanks OP we just booked 8-10 places.

  • Is it just me, or has their site been ozbargain'd? Suuuper slow

    • it was slow but all good now

  • can't book for more than 4 people:(

    • +1

I have booked for 7 people.! It must be particular restaurant you are having trouble with?

  • +2

don't forget to try combining with 20% off Good Food Gift Cards at Woolworths or 25% Liven Cashback :)

    • @tonester: Have you tried this? I made a booking with Dimmi and would love to pay with Liven! Obviously I'll ask - the worst they can say is no - but would love to know your experience.

  • what about the entertainment app?

    • +2

Don't think so. From the rules:

Not valid with other third-party offers
Entertainment™ offers are exclusive and may not be combined with other third-party discount programs.

      And from Dimmi:

Get 50% off your food bill! Kindly note, this offer is not valid in conjunction with any other offers.

  • I've noticed that the list of restaurants for Sydney keeps changing daily. Today Bather's Pavillion and a few others were added that weren't there before. So it's worth checking again.

    • their special isn't available Monday/Tuesday - for participating places check Wednesday lunch and dinner as all have it that day afaik :)

      • Ah yeah that would explain some of them. And yet a restaurant I booked on Monday didn't turn up on the list on Wed, even though the special was available Wednesday too. Perhaps it also has something to do with the default selection tag which was 'popular'.

        • And yet a restaurant I booked on Monday didn't turn up on the list on Wed, even though the special was available Wednesday too.

          booked out? :)

        • @tonester: It wasn't.

  • Is Bavarian Bier Cafe still offering 50% discount? It doesn't have the 'star' tag it used to have.

    • There are quite a few branches, which one were you after?

Edit: The ones with the offer will have this under the dates:

Want to dine at half price?

Thanks Moocher! Had dinner at Daana last night. Great food and the bill came with the discount already applied. Thumbs up!

    • +1

Nice! Glad you had a good time and no issues getting the offer :)

  • +1

Thanks, just had a nice half price dinner at Ananas (Sydney).

  • +1

Just had an excellent dinner at Ormeggio at The Spit.
Still can't believe it was half price.

  • +1

Had a delicious dinner at Seoulja Boy with friends a couple of weeks ago and going to Vamos soon before going to the theatre! Thanks for the awesome deal moocher! Deals like this help make it possible to go out and have fun and still be able to save up :D

  • +1

Thanks for the feedback, good to hear that a few people have had good experiences :) I love Dimmi half price deals since you can usually choose anything from the food menu (instead of a fixed menu on some voucher deals), and you don't have to pay upfront, so you can book ahead but still cancel should something happen.

    • Yes thank you for putting up this deal! I never knew what Dimmi was before. Does these sort of deals come up often?

      • +1

They happen a few times a year, you can see the deal history for Dimmi. OzBargainers usually post them up, so you can subscribe to the store deals from that page.
