    It's no GoPro Hero 5 but at $149 delivered…
    https://www.dcrainmaker.com/2016/03/garmin-virbxe-review.htm…

    • Geez one of the longest reviews I have ever seen.

anytime you want anything related to bike gadgetry just look his site up….always amazing detail

  • Text below from DC Rainmaker link above.
When it comes to battery life, I’ve generally found the VIRB X/XE fairly disappointing. It’s spec’d at 2 hours (in a temperature range of -20°C to
45°C (-4°F to 113°F)), but in reality I almost never get above an hour, no matter which settings I use.

This camera is pretty task specific. As has been said it has limited battery life. It is best for things like mountain biking and turning it on before you off on as down hill run. It has some amazing data that can be displayed.
Just bought it…for absolutely no reason!!! Still recovering from broken bones from last crash a few weeks ago. Pity I didn't have it then!!!

    • Have you tried using the charging cable with a powerbank while recording?

      • +1

I had a look and people have done this and with a 5000mah bank they get 6hrs recording with appropriate memory obviously.

I just brought one aswell. Was looking into the Cycliq fly12 but wasn't looking at spending that much. Will see how this goes :)

Can also use as a car dash cam aswell I figured :)

      • +2

Hey…sorry I just ordered it. I think you could do that quite easily. I do that with my cycliq rear camera on the road when riding over 5 hours. I guess it wouldn't be a problem with this either. It has so much going on inside that it'll always be a battery drainer. For me though, it'll just be for downhill runs…it measures G forces, how big your jumps are and so much other cool stuff. Shame it isn't the XE model which has stabilisation.

      Username checks out.

I have this camera. It is amazing, I use it to capture my race days as it connects to any Bluetooth obd 2 connector. Battery life is a little crap, but I bought an external battery charger and 3 batteries for about $50 and just swap them during the day.

Here is a link to a video to show quality and the awesome built in overlays included in the software

    • I could have sworn that's a video game!!!!! It wasn't until seeing the other car that I realised it wasn't.

What obd2 connector do you use? Like the idea of being able to use it as a webcam

      • +1

I use a OBDLink LX but it also works with the cheap eBay ones

    • Ordered this to make real ride training sessions for my indoor bike trainer. Didn't realise the battery life was so poor. Where did you buy extra batteries? Looks like I may need a few!

      • Just ebay

    • Woah!! That's actually impressive!

    • Gee it's pretty dam good quality

  • The Bluetooth input is a curiosity. Wonder if the generic ELM327 OBDII would connect?

    • +1

Yep works with the el cheapo eBay OBD connectors

      • I should've refreshed b4 posting.

  • Decent deal, got one for my kids

$99 now at JB! Free delivery too.

Requires coupon from their mailing list

    • +1

Tempted now, certainly don't need it but a bargains a bargain right?!

  • +1

Just received a $50 coupon (specific) to redeem on Garmin Virb X.
At $99 , no-brainer, will pull the trigger.

    • Yep, ordered too.

  • Anyone got a coupon code they aren't going to use? I've already bought mine but a friend would like to buy one too. Please and thanks.

  • Their site doesn't say out of stock, but just gives mysterious errors when you try to purchase. Using a credit card directly it said pre-authorization failed on two different cards. Using PayPal it finally said that conditions of the coupon code were not met. Not very helpful.

  • Received mine already. The box was marked and had clearly been opened previously. I guess as long as it works OK, I can't complain for $149 (apart from the fact that If I'd waited a bit longer I could have grabbed one for $99!)

    • I received some sets of headphones yesterday that i also bought from JB and the boxes are marked, stickers pulled off, opened and then crudely put some tape back over the seal - pretty disgusted as they were presents and now it looks like they are 2nd hand

    • The box was marked and had clearly been opened previously.

Hmm, did everything work as expected? I wont like receiving mine like that.

      • +1

Haven't tried it yet. Will check it out when I get home from work. The box was also crudely taped up as described by urbancartel. Luckily it was purchased for me and not as a gift.

        • Luckily it was purchased for me and not as a gift.

          not my case :(

    • Mine came quiet quickly too but box had not been opened and everything was brand new. Was small amount of markings on the bottom of the box I guess from moving around on shelves etc.

  • Hey everyone. If anyone managed to grab one of these cams and found you don't really need it… Could you let me know and I'll buy it off you. I only need one and I had no money at the time of the deal so I missed out. I'm in Perth. Thanks (PM me)
