I wonder if there exists a service for Telstra numbers, since the number I desire starts with 049, not in the OPTUS range, which Amaysim uses.
I also heard that mobile number starting with 05 was supposed to be released this year, which should give lots of unused numbers:

Telstra let you choose a certain subset of numbers. I had to do it last year for someone at work i just rang them. Google Telstra Gold Silver Bronze premium numbers. It is mostly for repeated numbers tho.
About $200.
I see people selling em on Gumtree etc too.
Given you just want 049 you can probably just ask and get it without the premium charge.
actually, I was looking for 0496 3xx xxx and I just learned that they are not allocated to any operator yet.

There are heaps of numbers that are pretty easy to remember without having the premium number fee. Find a consultant eager to get a new connection for the month and they will probably help you find one.
049 is also a Woolworths prefix
