For the tech savvy are you aware of any good options, or is this decent for the money?
It's for my sister, she wont be rescuing dragons or killing princesses (if it wasn't obvious I have no idea what games are what now) but the more bang for buck is always good. She would probably Netflix or similar if I show her how… after I learn how.

She keeps them for years so needs a degree of future proofing, and she wont want a small screen for normal use. I probably should have thought to mention that. I only mention Netflix as its something she might like to do in the future.
She uses it for general surfing, work, research, facebook etc. I think thats her budget and she wants as much laptop as she can for the money not really looking for cheaper options unless there was good reason too like the above is over priced or there are better for the money. I know scorptec have it too.
If it's for Netflix, browsing and MS Office you're much better off spending ~$500 on a computer, and then spending the other ~$500 2-4 years from now to upgrade. Future-proofing is a term that's thrown around a lot but is only possible in specific scenarios, spending double what you need to on a light use computer is not going to greatly extend the lifespan of the computer and certainly won't offer you value for money.
if it is only for netflix, don't waste your money.
