Looking to get a 5-day lunch + dinner plan to lose weight.

I do exercise regularly but it has come to a point that I need to start counting calories. Sounds like a time consuming task to plan and to prepare the right amount and the right type of food day in and day out.

  • By the way, do they deliver a whole week worth of food at a time? Do they just leave it at your door? How does it work?

Don't do it. You will save a lot of money preparing your own or at least purchasing wisely at supermarkets.

Try replacing calorie dense foods with whole plant foods and you'll get plenty of nutrients except vitamin B12, lots of fiber and water that will make you feel full. You probably won't have to bother with the calorie counting.

I second this. Focus on whole grains and veg and fruit. Gradually reduce processed foods and meats, eggs, diary and even fish.

There's conflicting evidence on dairy product's health impact so you can make an argument either way, but reduce consumption of eggs and fish? That's absurd, they are precisely the kind of nutrient dense foods you should be eating. Eggs are a complete protein source with vitamins also, and fish are great for omega-3 fatty acids that are seriously lacking in a western diet.

I get LiteNEasy every now and then… more as a convenience thing if I have a busy week coming up and know I won't have time to shop and cook.
They leave a styrofoam carton on your doorstep that has a few bags of ice in there- I've never had any problems with stealing/defrosting but live in a fairly quiet street.
I get the 5 day breakfast/lunch/dinner plan which is $123 and there is usually a HEAP of food- enough to get me through another 3 days at least. Quality and quantity is better than a Lean Cuisine but you are paying at least double!
A 15% off promo just finished last week but they come out fairly regularly. Good luck on your health journey!

    • Thanks, do they deliver a whole week's meals? Or few days at a time? Need a big fridge?

      • +1

Yes they deliver everything at once for the 3/5/7 day meal plan you select. There are generally 2 big plastic bags in the cooler- one for the fridge and another for the freezer. Inside the bags are other bags labeled by day of the week so you can just grab out what you need.
The only thing you need to buy is low fat milk so if it's just you at home, it's not prohibitively expensive.
ETA- This is a pretty good overview/review of the process- https://www.lovemyfindsau.com/single-post/2016/07/13/Lite-n-…

  • My girlfriend was exercising every second day for 6 months and probs lost like 2kg. She then went on the iquitsugar diet for 8 weeks and lost around 5-7kg..

I would highly recommend it. Its a bit pricy to get the recipes but you'll actually save quite a bit by using the plan through the way it utilised different ingredients.

    • So they sell the recipes, you do your own shopping and cooking?

      • You pay for the recipe plan for like 8 weeks i think… and yes you do your own shopping and cooking.

Subway and smoothies my friend, you can eat as many as you like and still lose weight. (I lost 10kgs in 9 weeks and ate probably 2 footings a day).

Alternatively try bodybuilding.com, most guys who are serious about training cook about a week's food in advance.

The bodybuilders cook the following week's meal in advanced and they weigh out everything to ensure the calorie count is in check or at least in range. You just eye ball it if you just want to be approximate.

In general, just reduce carbs and sugar in your diet. Carbs converts to glucose and excess glucose will convert to fats via fatty acid synthesis. Whereas majority of excess protein will undergo deamination and excreted. TL:DR eat more fibre, more protein, less carbs and sugar.

  • Woolies have $5 salads and I just get a few every few days for work and home. I can add chicken, ham, tuna and my own pepper and salad dressing. It's a lot easier.

  • LitenEasy is REALLY expensive but highly convenient as you don't have to do anything. I've tried HelloFresh (not really calorie counting, more recipe ingredient delivery), Thr1ve which is ok when there's a deal but expensive again… youfoodz was good because you can get it for about $10 a meal in shops but I only buy it when its BOGOF bringing it down to $5… and yes exercise alone is not going to do anything it's all about diet :( You could always go on the boring diet. 5 chicken breasts, boil/steam up on the weekend, roast some veg or make a salad and just have that every single night…

If you are drinking Coke, give it up. It increases your appetite. I gave it up and immediately lost a tonne of weight. Single best thing I ever did.

Exercise won't achieve great weight loss if your diet is bad.
