New to Brisbane from Vic Want to Trade in Car, Best Places to Go for Second Hand Dealers

As title

We are relocating and have 2 weeks to get rego, requiring rwc
Car is 2001 Totota Camry, so looking to p/x rather than risk cost of required repairs.
Easy way is p/x (unless anybody wants it!)

I assume there are places around like Car city in Ringwood vic
Something called magic mile Marooka?

Looking to spend about $10k + trade in value for 2012 or newer.
Ford focus or something equally boring but relatively popular and reasonable running costs
prefer 2L auto hatch /suv 'style'

  What does "p/x" stand for? Sounds like what I would call a "trade-in".

    I think it's part exchange which is yes what you'd call a trade in.

    Yeah, I think you are right.
    Problem is with a car from Vic we have to re-register within 2 weeks, which requires a roadworthy, so $160? or so for that, plus the inevitable new windscreens,brakes and things that don't need changing, plus maybe things that do. Little change from $500 upwards, just for us to keep it.
    For a $2000 'value' its less hassle than us selling (need rwc for that as well) for about $2500 if we were lucky. Couldn't get that in Vic

  You can try Zooper car buying centre at the Gabba - they'll buy your car for cash and they also sell second hand cars.

  Probably best to just separate the selling and buying transactions to avoid confusion around prices etc.

    I think you often get the horror stories like this with new cars.
    A few years old and I would expect those type of issues would be less likely
    You never know though
    The reason for buying is there are a lot of them around, less likely to be a consistent lemon else they would rebrand/ redesign and drop the model if it had a consistent bad rep.
    Also when checking service intervals last time it was a year, pain in the arse with 6 months

  "Magic Mile Moorooka" is a section of Ipswich Road, Moorooka, that has lots of car yards on it. There are also a few car yards down the side streets.

  Alternatively, you could drive to the southside where there are many used car dealers along Kingston Road in the suburb of Underwood, and also in the neighbouring suburb of Springwood.
