Dick Smith - iPhone 7 256GB for $999 + Delivery (HK)

490

Seems to be that the 128gb and the 256gb are the same price, $999

Cheapest price I can see online right now. Looks like it is an international import but coming from Dick Smith it comes with an apple warranty and the choice to get the Dick Smith warranty.

Why buy the 128 when you can have the 256gb for the same price!

And communite using pigeons to send letters? Thanks genius

      • You can use an android phone for this purpose, genius.

        • +1

Latest Galaxy costs as much as iPhone. Hows that going to work?

        • @Jimmy007: You know there are a lot of cheaper android phones available. You don't have to buy the top of the line phone. My $250 el-cheapo phone has been serving me well for past two years. Genius.

        • @vodkamilkshake: doesn't mean your cheapo is equal to iphone.Genius!

        • @Jimmy007: Does the job. Let's me use all the software I need, don't need to burn my hard earned money on something I don't need. Genius!

      One too many vodka milkshakes?

    • All these apple fanbois negging me.

    • Looks like they're running off the same systems to me

      • They do

Interesting to see the Rose Gold 256GB not at the 999 price. More popular? Trying to clear stock? or an error? idk

        Same pig, different lipstick.

That's because DSE is Kogan. Kogan bought DSE online business.

        • Dicked by Kogan.

wouldn't be a pricing error, you can get australian stock for $1103 at ausluck using code ctax20 at checkout

    • How does warranty/repair work with Apple in terms of them fixing an Grey Import phones. I know Samsung Australia wouldn't fix international models since they have different parts.

Tossing up between and S8 Grey Import vs iPhone 7 Aus Stock.

      • Greys will be fixed by apple but they are less keen to replace phones if there is a fault. Also grey phones are only 1 year warranty while ones from Aus are 2 years.

        • What about rose gold though ?

          @FatBlanket:

Not sure if this is a troll or a serious question… either way i am sure some one is wondering about the terminology so i guess ill bite.

Grey refers to the fact that it is a international import from outside of Australia, original purchase being offshore and then imported for sale here. The physical colour of the device has no bearing on the terminology nor does it change the warranty it has in any form.

Why buy the 128 when you can have the 256gb for the same price!

    Because?

    • +2

I was going to add that.

You can get a grey import 128Gb for $799.20 including delivery + potential cashback of 2.6% right now.
      ~$783.22

not really the same price as $999 + delivery

Do you really want to bore your friend with 256gb of of your life videos or just 128gb ?

I can make do with 32gb now to see if they have plus deals so I can bore my friends on a bigger screen.

      • +1

Do you really want to get bored of "storage full" message, when you open up whatsapp or try to install new app or you like to sit back and install whatever the heck you want? I would choose latter.
        PS I don't record videos

        • Its an apple problem……

      • Yes, yes I do.

    • Yeah but it's also Vaya we are talking about here and longer delivery timeframe. No guarantee it's a new phone. A user reported their phone was already activated when they received it.

Can you use Kogan gift card at DS?

I'd appreciate whoever negged me to reply with an answer instead of just negging a question. That's a bit rude.

<QUOTE> Why buy the 128 when you can have the 256gb for the same price! </QUOTE>

Because I'd rather not have to carry the extra weight of the additional gb's

    • +1

      cracked me up

    • +2

You jest, but extra data actually does have extra weight. The larger/extra chips are very slightly heavier, and the electrons that store data have an incredibly tiny mass as well.

      • I'd love to see the bill to sync by mistake on a 4G plan ……

  • Really got Apple 2 Yrs Warranty?

  • Sounded like a good deal.
But iPhone 8 is likely to come this September….

    • +3

True but if you think like that, you're perpetually going to keep waiting for the next latest and greatest.

      • -1

I think what hes trying to say is even if you want to get a new one, dont buy it too close from the release date of the newest one.

        • +1

Good luck getting the iFruit 8 (or whatever it's going to ba called) at this price straight up though. serg3 is correct, it's a ridiculous mentality to have.

        • @mattlol:

What do you mean this price? Who even said Iphone8 is going to be at this price?

        • @mattlol: it's not ridiculous. We're a few months out from a brand new model which is apparently going to have a redesigned chassis. I'd agree if we were 6+ months away but we're close, damn close, and I for one won't be caught with an iPhone 7 in my hands when the time comes. And the time will come. You just watch.

    • I always buy 9-12 months old tech … it's usually the best value (and you know if there are any issues with it).

  • Is $200 more for extra memory really worth it?
    https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/314285

    • Completely agree it's cheaper but I prefer purchasing from a store in Australia and a reputable one at that :)

      • -1

        Both are grey imports.

        • Yup, but if something was to go wrong/needed a receipt I'd rather have one from Dick Smith over an ebay store based in HK. Just a preference thing :)

Edit: looking at their reviews they also have a few concerning negative ones

        • -1

          @YeahNickk:
Dick Smith is just a rebranded Kogan online store, DS doesn't exist as it used to.
It's as much Australian as the Vaja store ( vaja is a mobile provider in Aus like say Aldi)

iphone 7 sale is bad, i owned iphone 6 and I wouldn't want to upgrade it.

    • Agree. I guess you are the same situation as me not paying off the debt for iPhone 6. Very sad

  • Beware of the 1st July policy change regarding overseas parcels, there will be extra 10% GST charge if the parcel arrives in Aus on or after 1st of July which made them almost as expensive as local stock as suggested by others (at $1103)

    • is the 10% paid by seller or buyer?

      • Great question i'm confused as well however I found this:
        https://www.lifehacker.com.au/2017/06/the-netflix-tax-has-be…
Stating its been postponed until July 2018.
However I was reading and it seems the seller (not the buyer) is subject to the GST charging - Ie. they need to apply the extra 10% bit (unless i'm wrong)

        • yeah… i sae the same news after I posted this

there will be two different streams (not gonna be feasible anyway)

For international giants who registered themselves with GST like Aus local companies, they will add 10% GST on top of your invoice (Beware if total value is more than $1000, they will add extra $100-$200 in terms of custom duty/ other lump sum costs)

For parcels from rest of the world, you will need to pay before you can collect, but it is not known whether parcel will be held at custom until payment is cleared or will be leave to Post Office/couriers to do the collection of payment (currently couriers are required to collect GST from customers when they arrive aus custom)

What makes it worse is they charge a base fee of $14 + 10% GST (Again, I am not sure/familiar with the details)

  • This is fair price now since they are phasing out the 128GB models.
