  • I loved Pools of Darkness growing up. The others I only heard about but never had. Some of these even I am not old enough to have had.

Actually I played EOTB series too and loved those.

Classics. They don't make games like these anymore. People have no patience.

  • dam why dont they make these anymore :|

Technically these games were "Abandonware" (free), but GoG decided to repackage them up with DosBox for remarketing into the new platforms. Can still play it for free legally if you want to install DosBox yourself or an Amiga Emulator and downloading the software from myabandonware.com.

    Great games though

Abandonware may be a nice concept, but it certainly isn't legal.

Abandonware does not mean it's legal btw. It's no different from downloading SNES roms. It's only free if the publisher decides to offer it for free on their website, which they don't. It's not 'legal'. They're just not going to go after you because they don't care enough to bother.

      • Adding to that, GoG would actually get into trouble for making money selling abandonware.

I had Pools of Radiance for the C64 when it first came out. It came on four 5.25" floppies as I recall. Lots of fond memories endlessly making maps on graph paper! I never finished it, although I did later finish Champions of Krynn (not on this list).

Man you were in the future. We were using cassettes which took so long to load some games that backyard cricket was played while it loaded :D

Test Drive: 20 minutes loading between stages :D :D

      • used to love the cassette games that also included mini games while waiting for the main one to finish loading.

Too many new games, too few hours in the day for old games.

  • When I was 12 or so, I played the crap out of Gateway to the Savage Frontier, even learned how to use a Hex Editor to hack my characters up to 25 in all attributes. The old PC Speaker sound effects were classic. Good times.
