Doesn't ship for a couple of weeks, and 12.9" still unavailable at the moment. But great prices and an awesome deal. Cheers OP.

    • im waiting for the 12.9" and planning to get the 512GB too on the 10GB plan for free netflix streaming

      • +2

Was in the city today and walked passed the Apple Store. Had a play with the new iPads and you can definitely notice the 120hz screens. Old ones next to them felt laggy haha. Reviews all say it's ridiculously fast.

I'm holding out until iOS 11 first to see if it can work for me

        • -8

Yeah but every new device that's blank seams that way.

        • +3

          @T1OOO:

No the screen actually refreshes faster at 120hz so that moving animation and images are smoother.

    • Hopefully they'll get some 12.9"s in Silver in stock. Just saying Space Grey at the moment.

      • +1

Yeah I noticed a few colours and sizes missing when comparing to the Apple website.

    • updated now to show

Available Now. Delivers from June 14.

      instead of 3 weeks

      • Still shows 3 weeks when I select 256gb version.

        • When I ordered mine this arvo it said del scheduled for 16/6/17. 256Gig version.

  • +7

An extra $10 per month gets you 10GB data, Optus Sport, plus data free mobile TV (Netflix, ABC iView etc.).

    • Can the SIM card be kept in mobile and used?

      • I'm not sure. I don't have this plan, but others that have something similar might know. I'm interested in finding this out also.

        • +1

Yes works in mobile but not tethering …… So don't tether your Xiaomi mi 3 off it. Have been trying to find out how tethering is detected but no luck so far.

Guess its to stop use on TV and binge watching …..who binge watched on tablet or phone ?

        • +1

@garage sale: the only way you can make this work is to cast your phone screen to the TV however this still only gives SD quality. If you can live with that it works

    • SD streaming only available under the optus mobile TV streaming option.

  • The 25% off for family&friends should help.

  • Wifi and cellular model. Good deal.

  • Assuming these will be locked to Optus Network only?

    • +2

      No. postpaid devices are unlocked

Browse the web, stream video and share documents faster from pretty much anywhere with 802.11ac Wi-Fi and 4G LTE Advanced.4 All Wi‑Fi + Cellular models are unlocked, so you can pop in any carrier SIM card to stay connected when you’re out of Wi-Fi range.

  • +1

    Plus 10% student discount

    • Doesn't appear to work with iPad plans, only phones and sim-only plans.

  • +1

Still waiting for the 1Tb iPad this year.

    • What and back it up to the cloud ? ….

      • +4

        Or backup the cloud….

    • Won't happen. There won't be another iPad upgrade this year.

  • Based on benchmark tests, iPad Pro is faster than many current PC laptops

    • The potential of ipad pro is huge, only if there is a touch version macOS. Obviously, apple do not want to release it yet.

      • +4

iOS 11 is a big step towards that. macOS on a touch device would be terrible.

        • I think ios 11 may change something but not much, since the software on the ipad is still not as good as the one on the mac. If I want to get my work done properly and quickly I shall always use my laptop. MacOS with touch is possible, just think about all the windows tablet in the market.

        • Touch and laptops …..finger prints on screen shows up with glare …hence 2 in one.

But trying to run Mac osx without keyboard and mouse / touch pad would be torture.

      • Different processor on the iPad vs Mac …hence aposxwould need to be recompiled or run as compatability which takes a performance hit ….hence surface and windows PC use same procesors so no performance hit and no recompile.

    • Based on bench mark tests steam runs on my pc.

      • So PCs are just kids toys then?

        • Thats what my wife says. Lol

    • +1

Saw a review and they said the new 10.5" Pro has the same CPU benchmark as a imac pro 13" with touchbar. Lots of HP for a tablet.

  • +1

Ordered one thanks OP! Can retire and sell my Air 2 now…

    • Same. Just got mine. The doubling to 4GB RAM makes a difference

  • Oooo wife was wanting a new ipad. She still is running the ipad2 and for what she dose with it it isnt that bad but it has seen some front line damage. I shall see what she thinks of getting a celular type which id say would be beneficial

  • When the last pro came out, there was a lot of ebay deals. I got a grey import from Kogan for only $710 within a month or two of launch (20% off?) for the 32GB pro.

Really hoping for a similar deal soon, anyone seen anything yet?

    • Was that the 12.9 version?

      • Nah it was the 9.7 - it was a good deal, it's treated me well.

  • How do I know if this is the latest 12.9 pro?
    http://www.optus.com.au/shop/tablet/devices/apple-ipad-pro?_…

    Currently Out of stock

  • Are these available for pick up today in Optus stores?

  • I really struggle seeing iPad deals because I want to buy, but I'm 1000% sure I never need it in any way I can possibly imagine.

    • +1

Since I started using iphone plus, I do not use ipad any longer. A laptop and a smart phone with big screen are easier to mange than a combination of a laptop, a phone and an ipad. That's why the ipad market is declining.

  • Not too bad. But not sure if I'd rather go the 12.9".

    • +1

I use a 12.9 at work, and while it is really lovely to use I think it is too big to be easily carted around in the same way you would a 9.7. From what I understand the 10.5 is not significantly larger than the 9.7, so I reckon it would be a good compromise between screen size and portability.

  • If we cancel the plan, it says that we will only pay the tablet cost (which is $40 a month), does that mean that if we cancel after 12 months, we only pay 12 * $40 = $480?

Sounds like a very good deal to me.

    • +1

Dont think so, as it also says "including any amount Optus was going to cover." so I assume Optus are covering part of the cost and if you cancel you will be liable for full cost of the iPad

    • +1

The $40 will be over 24 months… length of the contract. So even if you cancel after 12 months and pay an additional $480, you will have already spent $480 meaning in total you spent $960 for the device.

      • +2

It will be more than that as you will need to pay the 'device credit' that Optus are covering while you are on contract which is an extra $10 a month - so add $240 to that figure

        • I see, will that be $10 per month on all plans or just that cheapest one?

  • Does anyone know if you can combine the data with your Mobile Phone plan? I have 15gb with my iPhone, could go with the 2gb option to have 17gb shared across both devices.

EDIT: I should read, you can do it.

  • +1

Thanks OP. Ordered myself and the partner one - she has been patiently waiting for a reason to upgrade.

The $55 deal was it for me - not 100% if I'd use more than 2GB/mo if most of the time I'm on wifi. Unlimited music streaming is hngggg … too good!

The $10 TV streaming option is pretty good (even if only SD) … I might see how I go!

    • The music streaming excludes Apple music doesn't it?

      • Looks like it does unfortunately!

  • Purchased 256G, thanks.

  • +2

Very impressed with turnaround time…. ordered at 4:00pm yesterday afternoon- just arrived at my home 13hours later :)

  • Great deal! Only if I have the money…

  • Debating between getting this and the Ipad that Optus also have. Is the Ipad Pro so much better than the Ipad?
Ipad pro on the 10 gig plan would be $70 for the 256gig, or $40pm for the 128gig Ipad.

  • Ordered myself and the partner one :) Thanks OP!

  • Mine is still at this stage:

We're waiting for your item to arrive at our warehouse. You will receive an SMS when it is dispatched. You can check the status here or call us on 1800 555 295 for anything else.

  • Ordered this morning at 9AM, got an email saying:

Thanks for placing an order online with Optus. We're currently reviewing your application to make sure we have all the information we need.
Here's your temporary order number: XXX.
We'll send you another email once your order is confirmed. If we need any more information, we'll let you know within the next business day.

It's 4PM now, still havent receive the "another email".

    anyone?

    • It's a 2 - 3 week backorder so be patient

      • what……..2-3 weeks…..
I got the 256G grey one, it doesn't way anything about backorder on their website…

        • so looks like they updated the stock level .. delivery is 1 week . so be patient :)

        • Website currently says the following for the 256G model which is what I've ordered: Delivers in up to 3 weeks.

        • @northernculture
Thanks for the update. The thing for me is, I didn't received a formal order number that I can check the status of it.

        • @jasonfungsing: I think we might be in for a bit of a wait mate :(

  • Has anyone seen this offer in-store? I like instant gratification.

  • Orderred 256G via Optus Chat today - delivery 5-6 working days .

  • Just talked to the sales, says 256GB is out of stock. Can't order it now.

    • Just ordered, worked fine, still listed as up to a 3 week wait.

  • Just got an email tracking notification from Auspost, but no sms from Optus indicating this has been dispatched from the warehouse. The company in the Auspost email is "BEST FOR APPLE", is that the ipad 10.5 coming? Normally I would know but I have a few other ebay orders coming also.

    • What does it say on your order status page? Also the shipment maybe just the sim card. They've been known to send it seperately from the device.

      • Nothing updated on order status page. Doubt it would be the sim but who knows.

    • Might be your iPad accessories from eBay? Nothing on my end (256GB).

      • Well I haven't ordered anything from eBay in terms of apple products. I've looked up the company on google and they sell apple accessories. I'm a bit puzzled by this one!

        • Ok, false alarm, it wasn't the ipad :(

  • So we are now at one week without sign of them, how many more weeks now?

  • We are now at two weeks, sigh. And not a sign of it yet.

    • Same here, they don't have an ETA either.

  • Ordered the 256GB version on 14th June and finally got an update this morning.

    03/07 - 10:08
Your order has been sent to our warehouse for packaging

    • Yep i just checked and i have the same.

  • Just seen this:

"Your order is on the road and should be with you in the next 24-48 hours (for metro areas). Australia Post will send you an SMS on the day of delivery. Remember to have photo ID handy to receive your order. Check the progress of your order"
