Wasn't 802.3af always a spec of the Pro? It was the lower end models without it (lite etc)
Pro always was 802.3af
Obviously, these are designed for ceiling, but how are they on desktop?
These do not need to be ceiling mounted. I have an AP AC Pro at home, currently just lying in a cupboard. Has been very stable. Much better than previous APs including a WNDR3700 (AP AC Pro seems to have better range and experiences fewer dropouts) Highly recommended. Make sure you regularly update them.
You can find the radiation patterns for all Unifi devices here: https://help.ubnt.com/hc/en-us/articles/115005212927-UniFi-U…
Thanks!
Since desktop WAP would be used at 'elevation' 30-90 degrees, would mean UAP-AC-Pro would be best omnidirectional option, with UAP-AC-M second (for directional preference). Agree?I'd say so.
Fyi… if you just going to use one (or two) AP's you don't need to run the Unifi controller… just set it up using the Unifi app on the play store or Apple app store.
I just grabbed 3 of the In-Wall AC for $402.27 from the here: http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Ubiquiti-UniFi-AP-AC-In-Wall-/332… They don't have the stock to warrant a post though.
I don't need 3x3 mimo, I dont have devices that can use it. I figure it would be better to have 3 lower powered AP's closer together the 2 further apart.
Cheaper with code chopchop until midnight. Got 2 for 382.49 shipped.
Be aware these are all now being released from Ubiquiti with full 802.3af PoE whereas the old models only have passive PoE.
Just check which model you are getting. 802.3af will give you more flexibility to use PoE switches etc. The old models are still being sold.
