Update: Poll has finished and the most voted charities for our 2017 EoFY donation are:
- Against Malaria Foundation (confirmation)
- Guide Dogs Australia
- Black Dog Institute
- Fred Hollows Foundation
OzBargain is going to donate $16,000 to 4 most voted charities by our community members. We have been doing EoFY & Christmas donations since 2012 and have donated over $146,000 to various charities, and I guess there is no need to further explain why we are doing this.
What I have here is a list of 30 charities that were suggested in our last Christmas donations but didn't quite make to the cut last time.
- Against Malaria Foundation
- Amnesty International
- Autism SA
- Bear Cottage
- Black Dog Institute
- Compassion Australia
- Cure Brain Cancer Foundation
- Father Chris Riley's Youth Off The Streets
- Fred Hollows Foundation
- Guide Dogs Australia
- Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation
- Les Twentyman Foundation
- Leukemia Foundation
- Make a Wish
- Mates4Mates
- Movember Australia
- National Breast Cancer Foundation
- NSW Rural Fire Service
- Oxfam
- Prostate Cancer Foundation Australia
- Royal Institute for Deaf and Blind Children
- Salvation Army
- Second Chance Animal Rescue
- St Vincent de Paul
- Starlight Children's Foundation
- The Royal Melbourne Hospital
- The Smith Family
- Vision Australia
- WIRES
- World Vision Australia
So everyone gets one vote. Poll ends next Tuesday, and after that I'll take the 4 most voted charities and donate $4,000 each.
Sorry we can't take suggestions to be added to the list. If you have a favourite charity that's not listed above, you might need to wait for our Christmas donation in December, where we'll ask the community for suggestions.
16 / 30 split possible?
Otherwise, in descending order for most $ spent on actual cause versus cost of administrations to run the charities.
Just my thoughts.
Is there any sort of organisation/charity that is trying to develop quantum computing in Australia? A quick search suggests a likelihood.
No 'Youngcare' availability?
