Thanks to the comments (see comment section), the 4TB is actually cheaper, as long as you don't mind buying and having it shipped from overseas (Amazon). Although the caveat would be overseas warranty (Amazon's global shipping time is quite reasonable generally).

    Ultra-portable is the thin laptop style external you're used to. 9.5mm

    Portable is the thicker version, multi-platter drive. 12.5mm

    However, this is "WD Ultra" .. which is just their higher-end drive. Think WD Blue/Black vs WD Greens inside.
