Looking for a decent torch to go shooting and found these

    reported…

  • Why not buy a C8 for a few extra dollars?

    • link please

      • Do you want one that is more flood or more throw? (Throw will not seem as bright)

        • More Flood please, already have a spot rail mounted.

          @nocure:
          http://www.gearbest.com/led-flashlights/pp_616364.html

With the generic code GB17LED its $15.71 USD

I will see if i can find some coupons maybe Banggood will have it cheaper. You can usually find these for around $17-20 AUD.
They are good for future upgrades easy to change the driver and LED. I have one that does around 800m of throw 145kcd.

@nocure: You can buy the Ultrafire C8 cheap but they are sucky. They have a hollow pill so its bad for heat.
You can buy aftermarket pills for like 2 usd from Fasttech. They also have plastic reflectors instead of alloy and the tail cap clicky is crap quality. They also use a fake emitter.
They are cheap i bought 2 and done them up.

This one is 16.47 USD using the Code BLF
          https://www.fasttech.com/products/3398408

Or you can get the plain black one for $19.87 AUD using the code 4BLF
          https://www.banggood.com/NEW-Convoy-C8-AK47-71356-8-Modes-In…

All the same driver and emitter. Some one else may have a better code for the C8?

        • @aussieprepper: I'd argue for 3B (neutral white) or 4C (warm white) but yeah, the convoys are great.

          https://m.banggood.com/NEW-Gray-Convoy-C8-XM-L2-7135x8-SMO-I…

        • @ebosh: I am not a fan of the T6-4C the output is down a bit compared to the U2 bin. The tint is okay but its not a high CRI tint.

        • @aussieprepper: Point taken. However for me, the benefit from the less-harsh colour outweighs the loss of a few extra (imperceptible) lumens. I'm sure I read somewhere that warmer white throws further in practice than cool as well. Something to do with cool white scattering more and warmer white cutting through the atmosphere (or whoever wrote it might have been talking out of their derriere).

        • @ebosh: I am outside now with 2 C8 one warm and one cold and I can see the cold tint further. De-domed XPG2 and a de-domed XPL. Not XPLHI.

I have warm white xpg and xpl and they perform better then the xml2 in warm white

    • is that better?

      • Depends what you want to use the torch for? No one torch is good for every job.

        • That's the excuse I use to my wife when I try and explain why I own over 20…"I need the new light with the MTG2 emitter so I can light up the entire front yard"

  • These are good for spotlighting Koalas.

  • Don't forget to use your Flybuys card at Tmart everyone.

I bought this one from gearbest.
    http://www.gearbest.com/led-flashlights/pp_149048.html

takes an 18650 battery of which I have many. Crushes torches which take standard AA,AAA batteries, all for $6.51 AUD.

Where do you buy the 18650 batteries from though??

      • Just saw this post and thanks nocure, our site Tmart.com also sells 18650 batteries with own brand: http://www.tmart.com/search.html?typeid=&q=tlife. It can be shipped to AU at this time. Hope you can like them.

        • with 18650 batteries its always a good idea to read reviews of the ones you plan on buying as they can differ greatly in capacity and current dependant on manufacturer.

18650's can be bought from gearbest/banggood/ebay (beware of fakes for named brands tho).

        • @The Monk:
The batteries can also be bought locally from vaping stores.

        • @kahn:

yep yep, thats how comes I had a load of 18650's already :)

      • I use supersports600 on eBay. Aussie seller, quick postage, and responds to questions super quick.
