Terrorism is not a general exclusion and therefore policies may provide cover for threats or acts of terrorism for the below benefits*.
• 24/7 Emergency Medical Assistance
• Overseas Emergency Medical and Hospital Expenses
• Overseas Emergency Evacuation
• Trip Disruption Expenses
• Trip Resumption Expenses whilst overseas
• Luggage and Personal Effects
• Delay of Luggage and Personal Effects
• Loss of Income
• Permanent Disability
• Accidental DeathThere are some benefit exclusions clearly highlighted in the PDS with "We will not pay" for threats or acts of terrorism*. These are:
• Trip Cancellation Expenses
• Travel Delay Expenses
• Alternative Transport Expenses*Limits, conditions and exclusions may apply under your policy. Please refer to your Certificate of Insurance and the Product Disclosure Statement for more information about each benefit and any conditions which may apply.
So I return to my original question: Can cover that excludes terrorism, even if only partly excluded, truly be called 'Comprehensive'?
Terrorism is excluded so is the cover really 'Comprehensive'? "We will not pay…As a result of an act or threat of terrorism." (see Fast Cover Product Disclosure Statement - Effective 21st May 2017)
