How Much Do Engine Mounts Cost?

just wondering, need to get soem engine mounts replaced for a RWC for a 2003 Mercedes
for the technically hopeless, do brands matter? can I get them cheaper and then installed by the mechanic,

ive been quoted $1000 including labour for this task, but ebay seems a lot cheaper

  • As per usual, shop around.

Getting all the gear to lift out a motor and redo the mounts yourself will cost a lot more than $1k and mistakes will only add cost on top.

Personally I prefer OEM mounts. After mounts will work, but in my experience don't often last as long. YMMV

    • There are updated aftermarket mounts too. Of course, they cost several fold of the OEM.

It's not the mounts that cost you, it's getting them fitted. In most modern cars, I swear that they melt everything and just pour it in the engine bay. It's got me beat how they get some of the stuff in there that they do. You might find that the mounts are $100~$200 each, but $800 to have them fitted. It would take most of a day to get them replaced on most cars these days.

And "cheaper on eBay" you are comparing a parts price to supplied and fitted price from a stealership…

    • Even more the reason to get quality mounts if you are paying mega dollars to have them fitted.

      • And the other thing is, if it is not under warranty, don't ever take it to a stealership… much cheaper options out there. At MB, there would be some heavy overheads in that labour charge…

  • I purchased a pair on eBay for $90. Used codes to knock off $20. They were almost identical to the original ones with the exception of a guiding stud that helps fit it into place onto the sub-frame. $1000 seems quite a lot.
