Looks like regular price aka not a deal

    • +2

Regular price for this new product by auspost is $131.60 and they are having a promotional period this June and hence reducing it to $118.44 which translates to a saving of $13.16 for a pack of 10. This isn't the usual buy 10 and get a bulk discount offer but yeah it is probably only a deal to someone who sends out express parcels between 500g and 1kg

        many of my parcels are 560g….always a dilemma…. :)
I often use the 1kg express post for fast shipping.

How much do these cost individually if you walk into post office?

    • +1

Strangely enough mate for a reason that I do not comprehend, they are not available for individual sale. So only in packs of 10 at this point of time

Thanks. You should probably add that it's free delivery.

        • Thanks for that. Edited

  • when did they introduce a 1kg satchel?

    • +1

They just introduced it last month 1kg regular parcel post satchels which are sold in packs of 10 for $109.50 and 1kg express post satchels

      • My PO has had the 1kg Express Post for 8 months now.

I heard it's only a week ago or so. I kind of like it since 500g to 3kg is a huge gap.

Edit: There we go :) An associate verified.

      • Exactly right. Huge gap and huge price jump especially since there are numerous parcels that just goes over 500g. I just hope they would sell this individually in time as it definitely is cheaper than the 3kg satchel.

Saw them sometime last year. They were trying to gauge interest back then. Also available in packs of 10 only.

I hate EXPRESS POST. The tracking is hopeless and never gets to the desintation only to the depot, tracking after that doesnt exist and for a paypal/ebay claim it has no further details.

    • Sorry to hear that. If you would like further details, you can try walking into any post office with your tracking number and they should have a detailed tracking history for you. If they don't, you can call up the customer service hotline 13 13 18 to get them to give you a detailed tracking.

That's well n all good, I have tried with local post office and they gave me a print out from the Australia Post system and said it was delivered to Alexandria.
eBay and Paypal both denied my buyer protection, saying that Alexandria is close to my house thus it is "delivered".

I thus took out a charge back with my credit card and got the money back.

However the real fault is at Australia Post's "tracking" and lack there of tracking and scanning services due to the mail contractors (being paid per parcel and not caring or such). This is beyond your control and is a systemic issue with Australia Post.

But it's ok the ex-CEO gets more money and payout money than most of you because he did good job!!!11

        • Tell me about that mate. Oh wells. Good to hear you got your issue resolved and yes not everyone cares to scan in the item which gives some of us quite a headache and angst. Hope you have a great weekend mate. Cheers

        • +2

New CEO must be on a smaller package, that's why they can charge their customers less now.

  • Mistakes.

Is it delivered in an express post satchel?

    • Good one. I don't believe so.

  • +1

one problem is making a claim for a very late express post delivery, asking for the "replacement" satchel…being promised the satchel after all details are taken……and then it never arrives…..happened more than once……not even worth making the claims anymore :(

    • I claimed once and it arrived, took like 6 weeks tho

Usually more expensive than Officeorks Mailman if you have a convenient OW

Their $15/5kg and $20/10kg are good deals for large parcels going a long way.

Their signature on delivery is free too, which is handy for eBay.

AusPost only wins when it is a heavy local parcel which is $10 for 20kg.

    • +1

Thanks for that never knew office works had that

      • That's a deal indeed. Cheaper than auspost but it seems that there are certain issues sending through ow mailman but hey there are issues with auspost too so it's entirely up to you which service you prefer to use;)

    • +2

Auspost also win as they deliver anywhere in Australia for a fair price…..even to our external territories for just the price of a satchel if it fits in…..
try getting anyone else like to do that….
its horses for courses…..just have to pick the winning option that suits your needs.

eg: I can send 25kg local melb for $8 with Fastway…..

    • is OW Mailman cheaper for light items too?

    • OW Mailman is fastway.. plenty of people have issues with them. I've had parcels that ive sent with it take much longer than post for no obvious reason. I just use sendle now

      • o.O interesting.. so they pick up the item from your place and send it to the receiver directly? prices seem good

        • yep. Seems to use couriers please. Transit times are the same or better than OW and you don't have to leave the house
