Who Pays for eBay Discount Deals?

hey so if you're selling stuff on ebay, do these deals cost the ebay seller?
I mean, who pays for the deal:
the seller, or ebay..?

  • eBay.

    • cool thanks for that :)
Hey would you have a link to the relevant reference? I can't find anything

  • Read on an older post its shared between seller and ebay, cant remember which post though

  • A participating seller told me they go halvies.

  • I think it depends on the promotion - the 5% off sitewide is probably ebay. I've sold things during one of these promotions and didn't take a hit on it.

  • I'm sure its mostly eBay that pays for most of the promotion. The Seller(s) participating would also have to pay a fee to get under the sale. EBay makes up the money they lost for paying part of the sale by the increased volume of sales. That's what I think

    • Also most of these sales mandate paypal as payment method. That's another way of recovering money from the sale.

    Not sure where this goes.

When eBay has a 20% off sale, I always hear of price jacking. Does this mean that the seller has to cop some/all of the promotion?

    How does this work?

Agreement between eBay and seller. Both take the hit thus the price jacking.

If you buy at the inflated price, then the person taking the hit is you.
