$1 hamburger has already started last week at my locals

  • +3

Is there a limit per person with the $1 hamburgers?

    • +2

      Good question.

    • +11

"Can I just get a 3 for 3 and 17 hamburgers please" sorta deal?

      • +4

I hope that's your food for a week

      • +10

        I ordered 3 for 3 last week…. times 3.

Girl was about to fill up my 3 small drinks and I just said give me a large. Im sure she hated yet appreciated me at the same time

    • I think it was 4

      • +5

        Only 4? Last time there was $1 Cheeseburgers I'd order 20 :/

      • Maccas app, limits at 40 (but thats with everything). Nothing stopping multiple odrers

  • +3

Im going to go Ham on this deal

    KetoLyf

    • uh… I think you're misunderstanding the concept of Keto there.

A hamburger would be one of the last things I'd want in a keto diet.

      • +3

Toss the bun and eat the meat and remainder of the burger and you are good however the sauces would contain a few carbs
Can always request mustard no ketchup etc

        • +6

Yeah, good point. Could ask the employees in the kitchen to just outright skip putting in the bun (save waste!) and combine them into a giant meat tower. From my experience they tend to have fun with absurd orders.

        • @zailiner:

Dont tempt me haha HJ bacon deluxe are awesome

        • @zailiner: Carls Jr. Offer a 'ket' friendly burger with no bun, just lettuce and meat.

  • +14

The lack of cheese on the hamburger is sad but I'll be dammed if I'll pay an extra $1.50 to get a piece of cheese.

    • +23

      BYO cheese. :)

      • +3

where can we buy the same taste as the maccas cheese?

        • Coles and wollies

        • +12

@DEvok: which cheese tastes like the one in the maccas cheeseburgers?

        • +23

          @twig:

Out of date Kraft Easy Cheese.

        • +4

@twig: It's not identical, but the Coles brand 'Smoked Flavoured Cheese Slices' are about as close as I can find.

        • +5

Old English cheese @ subway. Google has some forums discussing where to buy.

        • +12

          DuPont™

        • +1

Aldi have slices of smoked American cheese.

        • +2

It looks and tastes like something synthetic to me

        • costco is the only place

        • +2

Are you sure it's actually cheese?

        • +2

Make sure you leave the plastic wrap on the cheese.

        • +1

@BradH13: Thanks gonna check it out tonight

@hamzie: Any idea which Costco cheese it is? I'd rather not buy 3kg of the wrong cheese =\

        • -2

There's usually a dumpster behind your local doctors office, should be promising.

        • Dairylea Burger Slices taste same as fish burger ones

    • +4

      piece of cheese is $1.50???????

if it were 50c max id understand

      • +1

Depends on management of the location, last time I bought the cheese slices it was 70c. Excellent when trying to make American style burgers at home, can't get anything close in our supermarkets.

      • Not sure how much a piece costs but I'm pretty sure you can't request changes to anything on the loose change menu. I'm thinking of the difference between hamburger price ($1) and cheeseburger price (~$2.50?)

      • Cheese comes up as $0.60. If they wont add it to a hamburger, just order a cheese slice by itself (in a box). Cheeseburgers are also $3.10 in my area now. :(

    • It gives the burger a better protein to carbs/calories ratio when you get it without cheese.

    • The app does not allow for extra cheese on a hamburger but for other burgers it's A$0.60 for extra cheese.

  • +1

I thought the same thing when on holidays in Asia ….damn if I pay extra for that….. Till I got to the toilet and the attendant sells toilet paper if you didn't BYO. The price if convenience or bad planning.

    • +1

Equating cheese with toilet paper… i guess there's a first for everything!

      • +2

I see you've never eaten maccas cheese.

    • +3

Would not have minded paying if they kept the toilet clean.

  • In Melbourne CBD, there's already ads for it.

  • Think I prefer the "meal" bundles as you possibly want a drink and fries with the burger ….the misser menu also used to have $1 chips and drinks ….no more.

    • $3 cheesberger meal deal FWIW.

    • +9

      Simple: 3 x burger + Medium Coke + Small fries= $3

      3 x hamburgers = $3
add free medium drink via student edge
add free small fries via survey

      • +1

        Not a student, doesn't mean I'm not tight…

      • +13

this is ADVANCED thriftiness, must be at least level 20 to pull this one off guys

      • +1

The medium drink via student edge isn't apparently available with purchases off the loose change menu unfortunately according to the T&Cs :(

Obviously your mileage may vary :)

      • Student Edge doesn't work with MyMaccas right?

  • $1 cheeseburgers I'm in.

    • +3

They are a hamburger it's like a cheeseburger without the cheese

      • just ask for extra cheese

        • +1

          Which is $1.5 extra!

  • +1

Better value buying the 3 for $3 cheese burger meal .
    I buy 2 for a snack.

    • not if you dont really care about the drink or fries.

      but i guess $5 gets you drink + fries + cheeseburger + 2x hamburgets.

      thats good

      • I don't like the plain burger, needs cheese but if you are ok with a plain burger $1 is good value.
I think my local chargers 80c for each extra slice of cheese, $1.80 for a cheese burger pretty cheap.

  • +12

Forever missing the $1 hot apple pies. $1.50 I can stomach, but the regular $2.50 asking price is such a rip.

    • +2

bingo! I'm back on the apple pies!

  • Does McD's let you swap the bun for lettuce with no extra charge?

    • No I don't think so

    • Yes, but not with every burger

      • Which burgers? Assuming not the $1 hamburger…

        • The Gourmet Creations, as well as classics. The LCM menu doesn't let you, unless you pay for a serving of whole leaf lettuce :)

  • +2

Hey, a hamburger with cheese is called a cheeseburger !

    • +3

Then a hamburger should have ham.

      • My ham's been in there, hence the flavour smirks

        • +3

          Real classy Steve

        • +1

id like to have my ham smoked

  • +3

is there a limit? wouldn't mind ordering 100 of these for some fun with the boys. always said im curious who could eat the most.

    • +2

This sounds like a Hamish and Andy style food challenge!

    • +1
    • +1

We ordered 60 mcdoubles back when they were $2 each. No regrets.

    • Think. Eating contests sometimes kill. Regardless of how young/fit/tough contestants are, if something crucial is truly blocked there will be a death certificate.

      • +6

when friends have eating contests, we do it until we are full. not until we die, this isn't some Guinness world record shit we tryin to do. just fun

        • Fine. I want to be wrong.

        • +3

.. we do it until we are full. not until we die

          Seems a sensible rule.

        • +1

I don't see why you wouldn't go all out. Death Certificate's are free.

    • +2

      100 burger challenge

film it, upload to youtube. go viral.

Maccas would probably give you 100 burgers for free after the publicity you give them

      • +1

I can taste the texture in my mouth right now

    • +1

for anyone interested, i did actually do this with about 11 friends. we all ordered 25 each. i ate barely 5, had some friends do 20+. record was 13 seconds to completely eat and swallow 1 burger.

  • +1

thought extra cheese was only 50c? then again haven't added cheese for a while so don't know… time to find out!

    • AU$0.6

      • depends on the store. the one i went to today was only 50c

  • +2

I miss the $1 cheeseburger offer they did a couple of years ago, when I was at uni. Pretty dangerous for my health though!

  • +2

    Hi, I will order 2 3 for 3 and 2 1 for 1 please.

    • +6

      username checks out

      • Hmmmm. 3 for $3 meaning the cheeseburger small meal deal. 1 for 1 meaning this hamburger 1 for $1 deal.

  • +1

    Forever plump. : (

  • +10

Does anyone remember when these were called Junior Burgers? Silly me I did not even know they had changed the name after all these years and tried to order a junior burger for my kid the last year…. the person at the counter was like… "say what"?

    • +1

Yeah about a year ago I ordered a Junior Burger and they said "Hamburger?" so I guess they'd heard it before. Don't know how long ago they changed the name, I only realised then.

    • +4

I still order a Big Mac by asking for 2 all beef patties, special sauce, lettuce, cheese, pickles, onions on a sesame seed bun.
