  • I was thinking of buying E7 before when COZY just started..however after found out the t&c..I didn't get to buying it.

"3. The offer entitles you to 20% off…. up to a maximum discount of $500 per transaction."

Therefore I don't think we can get a 65" E7 to as low as $5990

    • Thanks, and sorry. I will amend the post.

  • Surely it would be a better deal to buy it at $2956, and out of the $269 difference arrange your own insured courier delivery for ~$50-100? Temando offer great off peak rates with it varying for certain days, and some even specialise in moving electronics (e-go I think).

    • If there are any issues, I think I would rather have someone reasonably local to ship or take it back to.

      • It is totally comparable as this deal only has SE QLD stores aswell. So both deals are for delivery.

It will be nice in future when everyone is doing OLED

    • -5

I doubt anyone else will move in to OLED. It's too expensive. Samsung have really moved the LED marker this year with their QLED which gets nearer to OLED quality at a much lower price. My guess is that LED with HDR is still the future.

      • +1

I would think that OLED would feature a high enough native contrast ratio that HDR would not be needed, and in fact would be desirable to not have in the same way that other technologies used to emulate the appearance of a better image, such as dithering, FRAC and PWM, are also undesirable.

        • Isn't HDR more colours? It's not emulating better images, it is a better image.

        • +4

          @Kill Joy:

No. Wide colour gamut is more colours. HDR is the difference between peak brightness and black

Okay thanks - I was not aware. Good to clear that up.

        @carleast

You have got to be kidding me - go and look at the reviews of Samsung's QLED tvs or go in the store and compare for yourself, they are outperformed by not only OLEDs but the LED sets from Sony and Panasonic as well. As a person who owns both a B6 OLED from last year and Sony's Z9D LED tv (best rated LCD tele) I can unequivocally say that OLED destroys every other LED television on the market.

Samsung's marketing is also shameful they are trying to trick people into thinking that QLED is just as good as OLED when in reality even untrained eyes would be able to easily tell the difference side by side.

The only area where LED tvs are slightly ahead is in peak brightness but this years OLEDs are already close to 1000nits peak brightness so I would say in a couple of years OLEDs will be caught up to LED tvs in this department as well.

In future, get a bit more educated on the topic before you start shooting your mouth off

How do the current OLEDs compare to the final Panasonic VT60 plasma TVs?

        • +2

@xc: I don't have any personal experience with the VT60 myself but I did switch from a Pioneer Kuro (regarded by many as the best HD plasma around) which I had for five years before I upgraded to the B6 OLED last year and the jump to OLED was still very much noticeable. The blacks were darker and the overall pop of colour, especially with reds, were much more apparent on the OLED. Motion judder is virtually non-existent on OLED and the viewing angles are also much wider.

        • +1

Also, what are you doing on ozbargain if you have enough money for an OLED tv? :)

      • Do you know what economies of scale are?

      • +3
        1. Panasonic and Sony are both coming out with OLED this year
        2. QLED is an LCD reboot, nothing more. They're trying to fool people by naming in close to OLED. You got fooled bub.
        3. LCD / LED is still not as good contrast wise as the last plasmas, now 5 yrs old, even with HDR. They suck.
        4. Samsung should be boycotted for trying to treat consumers like idiots. But I guess they figure there's enough idiots out there that'll buy their rubbish.
    • Sony is coming out with their OLEDs this year and meant to be cheaper than LG (even though their using their panels)

  • +2

The quality is always fantastic when you're watching through the OLED TV. The thing that stood out to me is the blacks in the OLED really shows and distinguishes those colours very very well. I love the OLED. One of the things I look forward to when I come home is actually being able to sit on the couch in front of my OLED TV.

    • +1

Are you David Warner in disguise?

    • +3

Also coming home to my family is nice. But still a close 2nd to my LG OLED tv.

  • Is this a good tv to get?

    • These are the best you can get for the price. Unfortunately I need to budget so my next TV will probably be a $<1000 Hisense. If you've got the money, everything I've read indicates you won't regret it.

  • I really hate the magic remote. Some people love them but I love having discrete buttons to jump into functions. I don't think I could buy an LG for this reason. My mother in law has a magic remote LG set and maybe it's just that the only time I'm using it is to try and troubleshoot a problem or got through the settings menus.

    • You can still use the remote in the traditional way. I use a combination of D pad and magic wand depending on what I want to do.

  • OLED has the advantage of very good panel uniformity resulting in no dirty screen effect. You don't have to worry about backlight bleed too. Went from plasma to OLED, no regrets with spending a bit more. The amount of time we spend in front of a tv and considering how long a tv lasts for, it makes sense to me to get a decent panel.

My next tv will probably be CLEDIS based.

  • Thanks, but I think I will wait until July to see, and compare, Panasonic's 2017 range of OLED TVs.

  • So is it likely that OLEDs will come down in price to around the $1000 -$1500 price point in the next 12 months?

    • It is not uncommon to see prices drop by up to 50% shortly before next year's models are released in order to clear stock.

    • Not that much within 12 months. Probably not below $2500.

      • I'll probably bite at 2500. Hopefully we'll get there soon

  • Ebay listing says its 8k. Buy it then leave a neg and get it for free? ;)

    (Not a serious consideration :P)

I will stick with my last of the era high end plasma for the time being.

    • I'm also sticking with my Plasma until the new panels from LG come out. These are tweaked and re-skinned 2016 panels.

  • +2

List price went down to AU $3,675.00 now that COZY code has expired. They jacked it up a bit for the sale. Would be $2940 if 20% was still on.

    • dodgy guys!
