the edge 500 still has a lot of fans.

    Is that because of overheating?

I use an edge 500, it does have wireless connectivity (to ANT+ HRM/speed/cadence/power meter)

    • I have updated my post, what I meant to say was that you have to Sync via PC or USB to GO cable with Smart Phone.

Consider ant+ HRM etc seem to cost a lot more than generic bluetooth ones on ebay.

Still, this is a good price compared to around $500 for new models. And beats mounting a phone on your handlebars.

  • problem is, once you've had the convenience (or know about the possibility) of wireless syncing, it's soooo hard to go back to using a cable to sync the data

    • It is the only feature I don't like about my 500, but it still works great otherwise.

      • Agree, I see no reason to upgrade from my Edge 500, except for wireless syncing. It becomes a hassle when you travel and have to get hold of a PC to Sync.

  • i need the garmin edge 520, any deal out there? my benchmark for price has been wiggle.

    • I bought mine almost a year ago, Evans Cycles was cheapest the the time. But Wiggle looks best at the moment. Unless you already have all the sensors, the kit is way better value.

    • Pushys is same price as wiggle so shop with an AU store. Its not really a deal though, just their normal price.
Even if Evans cycles still shipped to AU, they have jacked up their prices recently anyway. I was going order and send it to a friend OS for them to bring back but not they are more expensive than Pushys

  • I used to have one of these but upgraded with the Evans deal a year ago. 500 was great, not so good for navigation but great for tracking data and updating my Strava account. I'm bit meh for the wireless sync as i normally end up sitting at my PC going through the strava data anyways post ride. i like to see if i've done any PBs or to give Kudos to other riders.

  • I lost a couple of rides through the USB syncing process…. really annoyed me so much. The .fit file somehow gets overwritten with garbage sometimes when I plug it in.
