Kogan Series 9 65" MU9000 Agora Smart 4K LED TV + FREE Swivel Head HDMI Cable

I'm a first timer here.
I'm also looking for a similar 65" deal on a better brand tv but this I think is a pretty good deal.

Surely an excellent contribution for a first deal in anybody's books!!!

Yeah, ever since the mods started I've noticed more newbie posters, I think it's great as there are now more bargains being posted =).

Hey, thanks for that awesome link — I didn't know about it at all, and there's plenty of good stuff I think it's worth publicising more, e.g., I didn't know that "fix the title" comments should be using Report instead.

Yes, but don't call me surely.

      • Yes! Love it! +1

Can anyone who buys let me know time from pressing power to the time video and audio plays?

  • Just how "smart" are the Kogan Agora TVs? Do they have Freeview?

    • +6

It's smart enough to have a swivel HDMI cable!!

    • If kogan himself is anything to go by, then I'm gonna say "not very" lol

      • +3

He made a lot of money from an idea, flooded the market with crap he made money on and bought DS as a child company.
Despite the dislike for the brand, Kogan is a machine.

Good price. Only for delivery in Melbourne and Sydney though.

    • I just entered my post code in shipping at checkout I'm over a hr away from Sydney and
would be shipped to my place. So maybe shipping for other places too
I would buy this but I am after a more premium tv with all the extra features.

  • +9

No HDR, no Wi-Fi 802.11ac, 720p max resolution for external drive media playback, and the remote would become tiresome very quickly (no dedicated Netflix button and no backlight for the keyboard).

    • +5

I wouldn't expect any of these features in such a cheap tv

      • +4

Cheap Hisense TVs can do all that.

      • +6

720p max from external media is a bit rough I would have thought?

      • +4

Just pointing out a few of its limitations so people don't rush to purchase. For a couple of hundred dollars more there are far better options out there.

        • +2

Hmmm not sure about that at the moment, maybe if you jump up say $600-700.

    • I don't care as long as it starts up faster than the 30 seconds I keep seeing on YouTube. My Samsung takes 4 seconds

Will this TV give me agoraphobia?

    • -2

it will help prevent it by encouraging you to stay home and be a couch potato

      • That's not how phobias work

  • +3

Might pick this up as a second TV for the bathroom.

    • +10

Two TVs in the bathroom? Living the dream

      • +12

One for when you're standing at the toilet, one for when you're sitting down

        • What a sweet set up that would be…I could imagine replacing the window with 1 & use the other as the door!

    • not a bad idea actually, my kids always dream of taking bath and watching peppa pig at the same time

        Say no to drugs.

      • Steam + electronics = no

I purchased one of these to display some static images (aka waiting room TV) at my uncle's clinic. Occasionally we watch Free to Air and I must say the quality is pretty average. Unless you have a limited budget & cant wait, I suggest to skip this deal and wait for EOFY

    • Well I checked some other comments on Kogan TV, they have all similar feedback like you pay what you get.

  • Wow ! Was about to buy this tv on Monday but thought I'd wait just incase it dropped due to EOFY sale, glad I waited !! :) :)
Just grabbed one with 5 yr extended warranty.

  • Do these have upscaling?

    • +4

All 4K TVs have upscaling. Otherwise 99% of content would be shown as a tiny box in the middle of the screen. If you meant does it have good upscaling, I doubt it. Budget brands like Kogan typically have a poor quality scalers.

Sounds like you may think upscaling is something that improves picture quality compared to native, but that's generally not the case. The best upscaling will make the image look like it's not being scaled at all. Bad upscaling will make it look like a pixilated mess.

Thanks to misleading marketing people seem to expect upscaling to make SD look like blu-ray when it couldn't be further from the truth. About the only thing upscaling can actually improve is gaming because it has an anti-aliasing effect.

      • Hi, I'm shopping for my first UHD TV at the moment, waiting for the EOFY sales, and upscaling is important for me since a lot of content won't be 4K. Can you tell me which brands have the best upscaling abilities? Or can't you tell by brand, does it just depend on model?

        • Generally any name brand (Sony, Samsung, LG, Panasonic) will have good upscaling.

        • @Ryballs:

How about the Hisense M7000 series? I always hear good things about them here

        • +1

          @montorola:

I've read SD and 720p can look softer on a Hisense but it's still fairly decent. Hisense and TCL are probably the best budget brands with regards to picture quality.

        • @montorola: Vouch for the 65m7000. Although, the m7000 series is hard to find with the new series coming so I ended up purchasing the display model at TGG.
