Plus it uses aluminium as well…not good for cooking with.
It doesn't mention teflon anywhere but does use "Greentek ceramic titanium nonstick" as the coating?
Some reviews here, not sure if same model but they do talk about the ceramic-titanium coating.
Please don't mention aluminium as being anything other than safe to cook with. For years we've had to put up with nonsense links to Parkinson's/Alzheimer's/cancer/Republicanism
I wouldn't dream of it, interested people can search pubmed if they like.
I would recommend stainless steel as my non-stick Scanpan turned into flakes in a very short time
which one?
We bought a Scanpan Impact 32cm frypan and no matter what you do to it it cleans perfectly with one wipe after being left soaking overnight. We were so happy we bought another a few later, but the new one is much much harder to clean and olive oil brown marks are left after frying and are a pain to clean if not almost impossible. Scanpan is totally not interested after many phone calls and emails. So unfortunately I would NOT recommend this it but I am sure that some stainless steel pans are available that clean just as easy as teflon etc. Frying an egg is much harder but I would rather eat a messy egg than teflon etc flakes.
When we took our Scanpan non-stick frypan back to Peters of Kensington we were told that it was a 'bad batch' and they knew about the 'problem' of flaking and happily refunded our money. Definitely not worth risking your health for a stupid $60 pan that cleans just as easily as stainless steel.
sorry but scanpan impact is stainless-steel and not non-stick - what was the (new) non-stick one you bought?
Both are Scanpan Impact which is stainless steel and are non-stick in that one of them cleans up with a light wipe. Maybe re-read the above.
cleans perfectly with one wipe after being left soaking overnight.
if it only cleans up perfectly with a light wipe after being left soaking overnight, then it's not non-stick :)
stainless steel <> non-stick
any recommendations on the best non stick coating? I have found the ceramic ones pretty good, but nothing lasts more than a year
The best discovery I have ever made was black iron frypans (any brand). After a dozen or so cooking sessions (no washing) they become virtually non stick. And they are cheap.

One of the delivery options from that website:
Road Express (est. 2 days delivery) $1,851.68
All non stick coatings are just variations of Teflon AFAIK. Carcinogenic.
I haven't used a non stick pan for years without issue apart from fried dumplings (AKA 'potstickers' 😊)
Thanks, but there are too many uncertainties and unknowns that I'd rather stay clear of products made with nasty chemicals.
I don't need non-stick pans anyway.
Having tried several different both cheap and expensive non-stick frypans, I've come to the conclusion that there is no appreciable difference in how long it lasts in cheap vs expensive models. We're currently using a $24 one from TGG that is just as easy to clean as any other, and in a year or two when its coating starts to stick and/or flake, we'll chuck it out and get another cheap one. Far better than buying expensive and hoping it lasts a lot longer.

You can get cheap ones with thicker bases. The one I'm referring to that we've got is this: https://www.thegoodguys.com.au/viali-non-stick-28cm-frying-p…. It's solid and we've had it for several months now and no flaking / issues with the non-stick coating.
good to hear - i've never had flaking issues with my (more expensive) non-stick that are several years old :)
@tonester: good to hear. I have.
You are so right. The main difference is the level of dissatisfaction you get once the non stick coating wears off.
I would recommend stainless steel as my non-stick Scanpan turned into flakes in a very short time and is not on the recommended list of good things to eat.
