Sydney to Shanghai Return $450, Beijing $396 Tokyo $676 Via China Southern

China Southern is one of the major state owned airlines. Based in Guangzhou, so basically all these destinations you have to stopover at Guangzhou. That said, the price is OK if you can find the dates and IMO better than a LCC.

    Hey,
Me and the wife flew over to korea last year on china southern and we thought it was pretty good. (although it was my first time overseas..)

Bit hard to work out their website sometimes. English isn't the websites first language. but when we got that done it was alright.

They give you a free hotel room for the night in Guangzhou if you have a stopover longer than 6 or 8 hours which was pretty cool.

I flew with my girlfriend and we found it was very good, and that's compared even with Emirates and QANTAS.

Plenty of legroom, food was good, service was good.

Storm delayed us and we missed a connecting flight in Guangzhou and China Southern put us up at a hotel overnight. Even though it was maybe 10pm by the time we got to the hotel, the kitchen made some nicely prepared food that they sent up in take away containers. (This was included too)

  • When travelling overseas, a full service airline with decent reputation is miles better than a LLC that frequently cancels their flights, aka Jetstar (which just happen to earn their way as the worst airline in the world http://www.sbs.com.au/news/article/2017/04/28/jetstar-angere… ).
