how many tarts are you going to donate to the Australia post?

  • +11

Sad for them, some of the offerings were really good

  • +10

Please put Sydney and Melbourne only in Title!

  • +13

This was a good company, sadly they did all the difficult development work and then hardly advertised at all.
Bet this all ends up at NQR like last time

    • +8

Yeah my housemate works literally 200m away from the Chapel Street store and never knew it existed until I told her recently, and she immediately started buying stuff nearly every day on her way home to put straight in the oven for dinner (instead of getting more expensive/unhealthier takeaway food) so clearly there was a market for it if only it had gotten better advertisement.

  • +12

$95 order placed. 6 days to eat through the freezer to make space.

    • +1

      what is worth ordering ??

      • I would also like to know as i have never ordered from them before.

      • +2

To be honest i enjoyed most of the things on there. Anything with a rating 4/5 or higher is generally quite nice.

  • My wife will be sad, hardly anybody knew you exisited

    • +3

Seems like poor/non existent marketing strategy.. I reckon I'd be in their target market yet outside of OzB, I hadn't seen a single mention of them anywhere. A real shame as their products are quite good.

  • +2

Aww, sad to hear this news. I really liked their giant beans with feta, fish dishes, pizzas and desserts.

Well now I've ordered beans for days (and also farts). Woop.

  • +1

Pity their lasagnes were pretty decent as were the pizzas.

  • +6

    RIP Dishd

  • +5

    The pizzas are legit

    • +1

They are pretty good have reheated them on a metal plate inside a charcoal bbq several times and they come out perfect

  • I need a bigger freezer

    • or a bigger mouth ;-)

  • Any idea on expiry?

    • +1

This. If its a long time i can stock up, my freezer is empty :)

  • +3

Damn, I loved this place :( But no longer lived in the area and never had enough freezer space for $80 worth of delivered good. Also great when they provided dry ice. Will miss it :(

    • +1

Oh the fun we had with the dry ice. sigh

  • No love for Adelaide :(

  • ordered 23 items. thanks

    • only 23 items?? … come on … im sure we wont judge you if you ordered just 1 even

      • and get charged $15 delivery? I am sure you are not that stupid considering you are on ozbargain since 2008

      • $50 minimum order …

  • +1

Usually the expirys were very short by the time they seemed to reach the online website as they also sold in store i believe.

  • I'd love to know how much money they burnt through.
Tasty food though, thanks OP got 46 items.

  • Please add Syd/Melb only to the title.

  • Totally forgot about these guys. I got on board the launch specials and then never ordered again. They were a little pricey for what they were.

Shame they never found the sweet spot, but i'm quite happy to releive them of 36 items (perfect timing as i'm moving house and will have an empty freezer to fill!).

  • Damn I wish I was within the delivery area.

  • I ordered 99 bucks worth of snacks and at checkout found "we dont delivery to this address"!!! Im in Gold Coast, not some rural remote joint….
also click and Collect is in Melbourne…
why dont you say so up front..

  • Ordered $80 worth and it looks like a lot of food. Happy that I could select the delivery day/date so I can be home when they deliver. Too bad they are shutting down.

  • +1

This was a great idea, opposite a giant Chapel Street car park with lots of free 1-hour parks. Always empty.

    Always empty,

    Always empty.

    No surprise.

  • +2

No available dates for delivery anymore?

  • how big are the portion sizes?

    • Not that big in my opinion. E.g. Stuff they say are for 4x people I can eat in one go.

Or maybe I'm just a fat slob. :(

      • thanks mate

      • Yeah very small serve for me too. And I am only 60kg. So I guess not only you.
I bought them twice but in order to qualify for free delivery I will need a big freezer so I seldom order from them.

  • +12

Sales like this make me feel we area bunch of vultures that pick at the dead bodies of what was somebodies dream, where they put in every cent they had and free minute of their time…only to fail.

    • +2

Yep, that Prahran shop had an expensive (looking) store fitout.

      Staff were plentiful too.

      Always empty.

    • +3

The only time I ordered was when they first opened and had a sale…

      • +1

Same! totally forgot about the store

    • +3

It's even more annoying when you are a regular who supported the store and now are not able to place any orders due to the one off purchases by vultures only coming in at the end.

      • +2

maybe it failed as the pricing was not competitive?

    • +4

      Simplot's dream…

  • +2

I ordered $82 worth but seemed like I had store credit (no idea where this came from) so paid only $46.80. Win!

    • +3

      Vulture leader?

      • +3

Lol. I've bought from them quite a lot in the past. Loved their truffle pasta. However, for the frozen meals, at $12 each they were quite expensive relative to getting some other takeaway options.

They were doing ok until they cut down a lot of their range. After that I didn't really order much from them.

        • The truffle pasta was the best!!
As soon as I opened the packet, the kitchen smelled amazing.

        • Those little golden pasta bags were pretty awesome too … :)

  • +3

Strange, you can add stuff to cart and attempt to check out, but with no delivery windows available in the next 14 days, you can't checkout!

    • Click and collect is still available for some days …

    • Same thing happened to me. They're getting too many orders I guess?

    • Me too. In Sydney, so maybe they don't have capacity to deliver anymore.

  • -3

The photos of some of their food offerings look amazing.

  • +1

    Getting blank page accessing site…

Did they forget to pay web hosting bill?

  • +2

Do they still deliver with dry ice!!!!!? 1??

  • Can't pick a time for delivery :(

Have to pick it up but 2 weeks away.

  • I placed an order yesterday, but never received a confirmation email.

  • Shop has lots of empty areas now and there are no more deliveries available

  • -3

Tried to get help from their office - no one is answering. The delivery window looks shut so if you are outside Melbourne forget about it.

  • +1

Just spoke to the Prahran office - they are apparently inundated with deliveries. There is no 'pickup' available, so the only option is to "wait until next week" to make your order and choose a delivery time.

    • best to order just after midnight :)

  • I remember getting all that frozen goodness for next to nothing when they first started.

Thanks ozbargain for the delicious memories haha.

  • Haven't been able to access the website in 24hrs.

  • I ordered on Thursday and expected delivery on Friday (yesterday), it never came. I'm wondering if they are still in operation? Or did I just lost $100?

  • -1

Went to store about 1 p.m. today. Not a lot of stock. Staff said next delivery will be on Tuesday. Their $3 spinach pizza was delicious for our lunch. ( Lots of stock.)
Their cafe was closed today. Feel sad for their staff who will lose their jobs.

    • -1

Yes me too - they told me to come on the weekend as it was half empty last week but it was even emptier today.

  • -1

went yesterday at around 3.30 pm, the shop was closed with the sign on the door saying that they ran out of stock and will be open on Tuesday with more stock to come. Really sad to see they are closing down :(

  • -1

Went today around 4pm. The freezers were half empty, and some products were all out of stock. The next deliveries are on Thursday, and it will be the same products in stock, just more. I bought over $100 worth of food, and got their LARGE freezer bag for free. Had to clear my small freezer and tetris game like, pack it all in!

  • -1

Would have purchased if I knew what the expiry was. Didn't respond to my message and no one here knows.

    • I did respond soon after you first asked that question. The expiry is usually pretty short as they probably have to order a lot at a time to make a profIt but also I believe the items that get put up on the online website are when they are getting closer to the expiry and still haven't sold in store yet. At least that's been my experience and I used to order from them every month or 2

    • depends upon the product - earliest i've found is August 2017, latest September 2018 :)

    • It is all frozen… pretty sure you will have things in your freezer than expire earlier but you still keep anyway so doesn't really matter.

  • Got my order last friday despite the fact it was booked in for last thursday, at about 430pm I called them as I was getting concerned with the order status still saying warehouse and was told that my order was not packed in time to make it for delivery that day and it would be the following day (complicated things as I was not going to be at the delivery address that day but it's ok I worked it out). Still the lack of communication for the delay was disappointing.

The next day the order did arrive and when I unpacked it that evening I was missing 10 items that I had paid for. Given I had spoken to them the day prior you'd think they would've mentioned something about stock issues, nope, not an e-mail nor refund, just didn't get some things I ordered. I have now been on hold with them for 45min, no answer.

I sympathise that they would of had an influx of demand and things won't go perfect as it's hard to keep up but just taking money and not providing the items, not answering the phone for such a long period of time, I can see why they have gone out of business, if your still considering snapping up some items off them, be careful!

    • Did you manage to get through to them? I placed an order for next week, but after reading your comment, I'm a bit concerned now…

      • Gave up after being on hold for 2 hours and 15 min, have not had time to call them today.

        • I called them last week when giant beans had sold out online to check that they were still going to be delivered after being bought the week before and they said that I should still receive them this Friday as stock is allocated at time of ordering not dispatch - hope that's true :)

  • I'm the same. Didn't even receive half of the items I ordered.

    • I was also holding off because my box was basically full, so I wondered if I might get the rest yesterday or today because they had to split the dispatch, now I'm wondering if they just fit what they could in one package to save on paying for shipping twice (they are big and refrigerated, can't imagine the postage costs are cheap). How full was your package, did you get, more than 1 box?

Did you get any correspondence about the lack of items or a refund? any follow-up from them? Was holding off lodging a PayPal dispute because I actually wanted the items but looks like if I don't get a response today my hands are tied.

      • I did call them up, they said it's because they have run out of stock on certain items. You'll need to call them up for refund on items not delivered.

        • What was missing?

        • @tonester: some pizzas and the fish meals

        • @tonester: Multiples of scallops, sea bass, green veg assort, green curry, one or 2 other things I can't remember off the top of my head. Yourself?

        • @yacman:

          that's terrible :(

won't know until this friday and my order includes sea bass but i'll be most disappointed if there's no giant beans

        • @yacman:
Oh OK now I'm worried too bc that Sea Bass you mentioned is still shown as in stock and order-able on their site.
My order isn't until next week - not sure what will be left by then
