Kogan Stainless Steel Smart Kettle (1.8L) $29 Shipped @ DSE/Kogan

150

This is a smart kettle, folks. Not some pathetic drop out. Cheaper if you happen to have a $10 voucher from a recent digital radio deal that never arrived.

    what's its IQ?
P.S Was wondering what to do with that $10…

Your choice between 20 and 100. It will default to 100 if you don't make a selection.

Hopefully you will get a kettle and not another voucher

      • *Only available in 5 degree increments too.

So it's got a university degree, but unemployed and still living with parents? Got it.

    • I did pay a bit more for 5 yrs warranty.

How is it smart, it stops when the water is boiled?

    • +4

No it stops when IT wants to

I have the non stainless version and I quite like. Although I would prefer more accurate temperature control (its only 5 degree increments) its still far cheaper than others. It doesnt heat to the desired temp, rather it boils and then waits for the temperature to get to desired temp and then holds it there for an hour (resets when you lift it off the base)

If anyone is wondering why you might want temperature control its because different teas and different brew methods of coffee require different temperatures. I use 80-85 for some of my green tea. Higher if im doing a pot of tea or if im brewing coffee.

    • I prefer it going up by 5s as I usually will want it either warm or hot. But didn't know about it boiling and cooling back down to desired temp. If so, the manual is a bit misleading:

The kettle will automatically turn off when the water is heated up to the selected temperature.

Purchased one for Matcha preparation. Usually 70C. Beats using cold water and adding boiled water. Good one Ruslan.
      Thanks OB :)

    • "rather it boils and then waits for the temperature to get to desired temp"

Eww. I don't use, but can appreciate the different temperatures for different teas, however one thing I always hold to is fresh [preferably rain] water for my tea. This way, one may as well be using the WWII U.K. desperation method of drawing from the hot tap…

There are issues with drawing from the hot tap yes but if you run your kettle on only fresh water then there should be no issue in boiling and letting it cool. This kettle doesn't have an exposed element, rather a hot plate at the bottom and I have yet to experience any issues of precipitate forming in the kettle.

  • Got one.

  • Strange I seem to get one pay with paypal then it go's of to a page saying Sorry, we can't find the page you're looking for.

To find what you were looking for, try our product search.
I am assuming that there is no stock left

    • Do you get the message when you get redirected to PayPal or after you pay via PayPal?

  • No it says paid then redirects to the Dick Smith Page, I assume the page has some sort of confirm purchase on it, I did try Crome & Firefox both had the same problem

    • Looks like we'll have to wait to see if others get the error.
