haha yeah, i remember when phones were 30$ wow times have changed!!!
Times may have changed but the technology and manufacturing process in an oil fin heater hasn't. Don't be stupid.
it was sarcasm
I got rid of an oil column heater a while ago and replaced it with a micathermic heater this one - it seems to get up to temperature much faster as well as being physically smaller. It also has a thin heating element, so incorporates a cage around that for heat protection. That being said, the cage still got pretty hot.
Any specific reason why you want to use an oil column heater over one of these? I paid around $50 from Masters at the time, but even full price they seem to be in the $100-120 range, so by looking at sales etc you might be able to do better.
The oil fin ones retain heat for longer. That's about all. They all have their pros and cons and which one you need varies largely by room.
DēLonghi not Delongi.

Random, random detour but we are heading overseas in the middle of winter and our dogs will be outside and visited 3 times a day for food and play. I've been boiling water for a hot water bottle under their bedding each night, but was wondering if there was a safe heater that could be used over night that's easy for our pet sitter.
I saw this on my eBay newsletter this morning.

I've never used one and don't even know how it works.
I think it's the same model we bought for my mother from Myer for $109 inc free delivery a month or so ago when they had a sale on.
It has a timer that you can use to turn on/off as many times as you want during day. It has a 24 hour circle of dip switches with about 6 switches per hour so you can control it as finely as you want. It has 3 power levels and a thermostatic switch to set temperature. Finally, it has an anti-freeze setting that will keep the temp at 5C to stop pipes freezing - very useful in Perth.
She has started to use it at night. She seems pleased with it. The 2400W heats things up a lot more than her previous 1500W Dimplex that started to leak oil after about 20 years.
To answer why column heaters are better than other types of heaters:
They don't get too hot to touch which means
Pets and blankets don't burst into flames if they come into contact with them.
It shows as $159 before any discounts applied. OP- how did you get $150 before discount?
$135.15 now
I remember I bought such things around $50 from supermarket.
