Wish this came earlier but alas woolworths cut through optus by locking in potentially a few more customers had optus brought out something earlier. For 85 i mighr have taken their s8+ in return for netflix free streaming vs ww 82 buck plan :(

  • +8

These plans are considerably more expensive this time around.. Last time the iPhone 7 128gb $85 plan was $84.75pm with 12gb of data and now it's $98.75 for 10gb. But maybe they got the phone price wrong on initial offer because that's what I remember it being. Still a good discount but it seems like they chucked the prices up.

  • +3

No 100gb deals on the 25% this time round.

    • Thats the one Im waiting for also

  • +2

Not for recontracting customers… BOO! Virgin mobile has 17GB for $45 at the moment.

    • Oh really? Maybe you can twist their arm. I'm one year in my current contract and wouldnt mind recontracting. Other option is to pay for the phone out and cancel the plan and sell it then sign up again.. too much hassle meh

    • Disgusts me that old customers are rewarded for their loyalty with this kind of offer…

  • +1

GS8 and the 20gb plan is an absolute steal!!
    Wtf?!
God I wish I could afford to up my plan atm!

  • +2

Can combine with 10% off student discount?

  • +3

Oh I was waiting and just signed a new contract on Friday :(

    • same :(

    • I signed on Sunday :(

    • 7 day cooling off period no??

      • Good point. I'll have to find out. Have you ever done it before?

  • Thinking about this.

Question, if I get the 20GB plan and a data share sim for my laptop (built-in modem); does the laptop also get free netflix via the data sim?

    • I believe optus no longer offer free data share sims. From what i understand, they are charging for them now.

Data free when streaming netflix on the data share sim, i believe not.

I have a data share sim, which doesn't get these benefits.

    • From the FAQ

      Q. Will data free Mobile TV streaming work on all my devices if I Data Pool?
      A. No, data free Mobile TV streaming will only work on the service for which it has been activated.

  • Any way to get this as an existing customer?

Or will port out take too long etc.

  • +1

They have bumped up the price of the phones in the click frenzy.

    http://www.optus.com.au/shop/mobile/phones/iphone/iphone-7

Black iPhone 7 128gb $85 plan phone is $24 extra making the total $109 per month.

Under click frenzy deal Black iPhone 7 128gb $85 plan phone is $35 total is 98.75 per month

The plan should be 81.75 per month not 98.75

    • This is disappointing the S8+ on the $85 plan is only $15 extra normally but with the click frenzy it is $30 extra.

    • at checkout it appears to come to $87.75

  • +3

boo - been a customer for over 10 years with optus, obviously 0 care for exisiting customers. the S8 deal is insane.

    • when I click I'm With Optus Upgrade my phone it lets me select buy now. I filled in all my details and it says your order has been submitted for processing. See what happens

      • hmm did you mean select upgrade my prepaid option to a plan>?

        • Yeah. See how it goes. If they cancel it no loss. Move somewhere who wants my business.

        • @pkl111:

ive done the same - i asked livechat what the go was with screwing long standing customers their reply was the deal was with click frenzy not with optus.

If they cancel my upgrade of my secondary number ill just say ill cancel both numbers with them.

        • @pkl111: have u heard anything back yet?

        • @Jimothy:

I tried last night and it all looked good until I just got a call from Optus and it's a no go. Only if I get a new number. What a waste of time. May as well go with Woolworths!

        • @Jimothy: They called me today. If you change the number from a plan to a prepaid it will work but then you have to calculate the costs of any cancellation fees. Wasn't worth it in my case so just cancelled it.

        • +2

@rachyloulou: just got the call too. Cancelled request. Will be porting both numbers out in 3 days when my last contract is up. Cited being a loyal customer for over 10 years. 0 forks given.

        • +1

@pkl111: lol ill be porting both numbers out to someone else with better sim only plans and buy another handset outright

        • @pkl111:

My current plan is out of contract today and I spoke to someone who said I could transfer my number over when I get the SIM. Otherwise if that doesn't work, I'll sign up for a prepaid $10 and then do it.

        • @Jimothy:

Agreed! They couldn't care less. They weren't even prepared to budge on the current deals - I asked how I could cancel everything and surprisingly got disconnected!

        • @rachyloulou:

Considering the s8 deal with woolies, $80 cashback at the moment.

        • @rachyloulou:

If i didnt have two numbers i had to keep id prob do the same. But you can never trust phone reps. Had two dodgy experiences where i was offered deals over phone by optus but then never got the credit back or get fobbed off by the reps saying they cant see ant notes or being put forever on hold.

        • @Jimothy:

I'll see what happens when I get the phone and try to change it. I was on chat with 3 different people and they all told me different things! I'm not confident WW would much better though. Good luck!

      • Did anyone see this in the CIS?

This $100 My Plan Plus plan is a promotional plan that includes
15GB plus 5GB of bonus data. This plan is only available to new
        and re-contracting services

  • +1

Well, I've sent my 6P off for RMA and I do need to upgrade this year.

    So tempted.

  • Can someone define recontracting?

Does it mean if I am currently in a contract that I cannot recontract and get it?

Or if I am out of contract but an Optus customer I cannot get it?

  • +3

Just signed up thanks OP. for some reason I got the $90 plan for $83.

  • Just been on live chat with them and it appears it's NEW numbers only.

  • +1

FYI everybody, the pricing at the checkout is different to the prices listed on the site… check it out for yourself

  • +1

Does anyone else find it strange that the $85 plan for the S8 is more expensive (after discount) in comparison to the $100 S8 plan? ($83.75 vs $79)

  • +2

Looks like there's a $48 - $49 phone credit that gets applied on check out.

  • +1

with the $40/15gb plan, sucks its only for new services only.

otherwise i'd switch over from my month to month $40/10gb i've got with them right now

    • Port out and port back in?

  • +2

    S8 is only $75 on plan $100.
I think the pricing in OP needs to be revised.

Ended up ordering it on the 85 plan for $67.75

    • -3

This is the lease option, which means you have to return the phone at the end of the 24 months contract. Read the fine print, its worst then the "own a phone" option.

      • Are u sure? Lease option makes it go down to $62.75

    • +4

Looks like they've dropped all the prices since 7PM. No idea what's going on but will screenshot it all for future reference. Have updated the table. See the changes highlighted.

  • Can you stream Netflix in HD quality with these phones deals ? I've just got the Samsung galaxy tab A $20 deal with Optus about a month ago but can only stream SD quality…

    • Nvm, found it… "Stream SD video up to 1.5Mbps"…

  • Will this have the 5 additional sims like the last $40 allowed ?

    • Read the CIS
If you are referring to data only sims for a one off $5 fee the short answer is no.

  • +1

Perfect timing! I was looking for a plan for last few days. Just ordered 10Gb plan with Samsung S8 for $67.75 - thanks OP

  • Jesus Christ that S8+ price is good! Too bad Vodafone won't match :(

    • Tried to get Telstra to budge too but to no avail. Best they could do was $20 off their L and XL plans with 3GB extra data on top of what they've got advertised on their website.

      • So that would bring the S8 on their $105 L plan with 12GB to $85 with 15GB?
Still not bad. Especially considering you know you're getting a much better service.
If Optus are unwilling to budge for a very long term customer, I'd be happy to take that!

  • +2

the s8/s8+ prices are too good … what do i do? i dont even need a new phone and im stuck in a contract

  • Hmm…it says it's on their lease plan. Gotta pay out or pay $99 for a new phone after 12mths.

  • +10

Theres nothing ever for existing customers…..theres no point being loyal anymore

    • Typical optus

  • I'm on a pre paid unlimited $30pm +10gb using my honest Note 3.Should I upgrade? Decisions!

    • No. You can't buy honestly so stay with note 3 until it breaks down.

  • Dont know about other plans but I told my friend about this just now and the 100 s8 plan is now reflecting 83 after discount.

    • That's for S8+.

  • I had decided to skip the s8 and wait but i couldn't say no to 20gb for $75 Inc phone. How is this not up voted 😆

Bye bye Telstra. I loved being on the dodgy prepaid in app purchase grandfathered plan for so long but 20gb data is king.

Has any ozb ordered from Optus recently? Know of eta on delivery? I wonder when my phone number will get ported… When I turn on the new phone?

    • +3

I have a $0 Vodafone grandfathered plan on postpaid and use it to get a new phone every 18 months without the need of plan repayments 👍🏻

      • Ha. I was on VF 'No Plan' for about 10 years just to keep my (too good to change) mobile number whilst I had a work phone.
I'd get 3 or 4 emails and calls yearly to ask if I wanted to upgrade!!! :)

  • Any idea if the phone is unlock ?

    • Unlocked, as usual.

      • Thanks

      • What do u mean unlocked as usual… my optus phone is locked to optus.

        • +2

Aren't post paid phones usually unlocked while prepaid are locked to the provider.

        • Contract phones aren't locked (and in the bizarre case they are - will be unlocked for free).

Pre-paid phones are the ones that are locked to the network family they were purchased from.

        • @BradH13: so that means my post paid optus s7 should be unlocked? Wow im getting that fixed

        • +1

@Tehcookiemonsta: Sure should be. If they give you grief, just say you need to go overseas and use a foreign local SIM. That should persuade them.

  • does vowifi work on s8 optus? or sms via wifi?

have no reception with optus at work

  • Can i port my number from Virgin mobile?

    • hope so, just signed up the wife for this with a port from virgin

  • Has anyone upgraded from a sim only plan currently only $30 for 12gb

    • I'm currently on sim only month-to-month, and Optus live chat said this offer wasn't available to me.

Seriously disappointed because I've been looking to upgrade phone and/or plan for ages and the $75/S8/20GB deal would have been perfect.

The search continues I guess, just with more motivation for me to leave Optus now from sheer annoyance

      • I call BS.
The CIS clearly states "This plan is only available to new
        and re-contracting services"
        Call the bikies!

        EDIT
Ok, so the CIS is for the bonus 3GB that takes the $85 plan to 10GB.. there is no CIS I can see specifically for the clickfrenzy price offer.

        • Call the bikies anyway, maybe they can persuade Optus not to shaft existing customers who would gladly lock in for another 2 years. Or else they could probably get me a better deal on a new phone

        • +1

          @Virtus:
          Tell me about it!
Mobile customer for 20 years with one phone, broadband customer for 8 years… and get sweet F.A.!
My work phone I've moved around a bit and always get offers to stay with the other companies.

        • +1

@Virtus: ive been them nearly 10 years, 0 forks given.

    • I just upgraded from $30 prepaid optus sim to the S8 plan today. You just need to click 'current optus customer' (or something). easy!

      • There's a difference between being a prepaid customer and a SIM only customer. Prepaid customers are eligible, yes, but anyone else currently with Optus is excluded (including people on a SIM-only plan, or out of contract).

    • I wanted to know this as well but because there is no promo code I assume all the other sim only plans aren't available with 25% off. I have no need for 12gb but for $30 if available, sign me up!

      • Just spoke with live chat, the $40 sim only is the only sim only plan available in this sale.

  • +1

Chat confirmed new customers only bum..

  • +1

I'm on SIM only plan. Signed up last night. Been called today right at my busy time and been told can not keep my number. Tried to talk with someone but " please press 1 …please press 2…" I'm sorry Optus. I've been with Optus that long since I was student. Buy-buy Optus.

  • +1

Got a call too no offer for existing customers.. So disappointing optus!

  • Can optus prepaid sign up and get 25% off?

    • +1

      YES. Choose current customer…

  • +1

Disappointing that it's not applicable to existing customers that's out of contract.

  • I need an S8 looks like by bye Optus

  • +1

Thanks for the post, awesome deal. Just picked up the S8 for $67.75. Spoke with Virgin to see if they would price match as my current contract has only one month left, they wouldn't have a bar of it.
