You'll pay far more using iSelext than doing independent research and making an informed decision. Not a bargain.

    • Agreed, when i finally realised that the companies 'participating' in iSelect actually pay commission (hence why i never saw HBF or anything) i realised what was going on and gave up with them….Same as comparethemarket.

Wouldn't you just pay for 1 months life insurance and 1 months car insurance claim $200 then go back to cheaper alternatives?

      • +4

Exactly. I don't think they like free money.

    • Not if you find a policy that's worth the $200 saving.

  • as long as ur done ur research and u hv ur lowest price why not give em a ring, they might find a lower price plus save another $200. I will definitely give em a ring for my car and broadband.

  • Thats a lot of exclusions….

    EXCLUSIONS

    • If 2 different companies it counts?

So I was signing up for Health Insurance and Mobile Broadband for my new place anyway (DSL not available) and did some looking to find the iSelect prices were quoting the exact same as what I was signing up for anyway. But the big "surprise" was that when finishing signing up the MBB product the rep told me if I signed up to a "One Month" Free Foxtel trial (apparently don't pay anything for the first month nor install fees) I would get a second $200 Eftpos Card so it would be $400 worth instead of $200.

Something seems a little fishy to me here, but I've asked her to put it in an email so I can at least push for it considering I was signing these up anyways!

    • @Mbix they probably make more than $200 per sale/product so its a win win

You need 4 products in total to get the 2nd $200 eftpos card tho.

They do electricity and gas too btw if you are moving.

      • @bobzor bargain

Yeh definitely thought it might be the case, even though I only have the bare basics Extras Insurance + only signed up to a month to month mobile broadband plan to tide me over, but that's when she expressively told me if I signed up to Foxtel as well I would "get a second $200 gift card" and she confirmed it when I pressed her on it multiple times.

I then had to call back where I spoke with another rep who said if that's what she stated they have to stick to it and cough up the second gift card. Though it really didn't sound convincing. Half considering taking out the 4th product as you said, sadly there's no Gas in the new place, and Perth only has one electricity company!

Might pay to find a random cheap life insurance/car insurance deal or something and keep for the required time…

    • where do you find a deal from iselect from free foxtel trial? and do you mean apart from you with that girl then they might not give another $200 eftpos if other customer sign up foxtel?

also if you just sign up health insurance with extra only will it accept?

I know they have condition you have to join for at least a month.

      • Call them for the free foxtel "trial"

Yes, just extras counts as a product.

        Correct 1 month.

The foxtel is 1 month free, so I assume you will have to pay for 1 additional month of foxtel because you need to stay for 1 month and foxtel is direct debit rollover… But you can always just get sport and movies for $26? $29? A month, or something. So you are still in front!
