This discount is no where as good as the previous 50% off coupon which came out late last year. The 60 day trial period gives you plenty of time to decide whether it is worth purchasing.

Directory Opus file manager software is a replacement for Windows Explorer and may not be "cheap" to some however given it is home grown and actively supported by its developers (Australia, Brisbane) and it has many supporting reviews, it is worthy of consideration if you have a need to manage files on a Windows PC.

Two versions Lite and Pro (ex GST)

  • Lite is AUS $49 ($43.61 with coupon) + GST
  • Pro single license is $89 (actually 1 PC license and 1 laptop license) ($79.21 with coupon) + GST
  • Pro 2 license $129 (actually 2 PC licenses and 1 laptop license i.e. 3 in total) ($114.81) + GST

** If you happen to live outside of Australia you don't pay GST **

    Opus Software 11%

Is this better than Vodafone Software?

Yes not the best choice of names…

I think you'll find this program is much older that Optus

Update: Directory Opus first release on the Commodore Amiga 1990. Optus name change 1998.

"Opus" means a piece of artwork - from "Magnum Opus" (Master artwork).
It reminds me a bit of Acdsee in the later years when it bloated into something it wasnt (outside of a fast picture viewer). Obviously this does much more, like X/Z Trees from back in the day. But asking for that sort of price is a bit ridiculous. Lots of fully featured tools out there that does similar for fraction of the price TBH.

Directory Opus changed my world. I picked up 3x Lite licenses for near nothing in a Humble Bundle last year. At work in particular, where I do a lot of work in deep directory structures and (used to) need two Explorer windows side by side, my workflow is so much better now. The level of customisation, and the little features you keep discovering, are power user heaven.

    • Why all those negative votes? Seems to be perfectly summed personal experience.
I do not use this software, I prefer far manager, but that is just me.
For many this could be a useful SW for the reasons mentioned by gruso.
      (unless I have missed something…)

This software is by far the best Explorer replacement out there. And it's Aussie. But that's not germane to its operation - it's outstanding, irrespective of its origins.

What sort of moron downvotes that comment?

How does this compare to XYplorer?

  • I grabed this form humble bundle and struggled to get with it

Good to see this is still going strong. Probably one of the few remnants from the Amiga glory days!

The final Amiga version, at first, was hard to use. I was a fan of SID, and never quite got Opus, until I saw it demonstrated by the guys from GPSoft.

I realised I was trying to use it like I used SID, rather than a complete replacement for most of the workbench.

Never really bothered with the PC version. I think they came to the game too late. Opus under Win 3.11 would have been huge, but when Win95 rolled out, a lot of the benefits Opus offered were already there.

Still really hate that they give prices ex-GST though.

You obviously have no need for it. Neither do I… but others do find it very useful.

Ah, that kind of moron would downvote positive comments. Got it.

While this is very nifty software I have to say the authors charge like a bull when it comes to pricing. 11% off normal price is still pretty expensive… it's more than what I paid for my copy of Office 2016..

I actually do a lot of my file management operations through Voidtools "search everything"… a very powerful file indexer that's also fast. I keep it permanently open and have it bound to a keyboard shortcut for easy searching with one keystroke.

  • I tried this but it was very slow when browsing my synology nas files.

The price of this is nuts. Ill stick with QtTabBar thanks.

Great software, been using it since the Amiga days. Can't use a PC without it anymore. Windows Explorer is horrible in comparison

Directory Opus is a great piece of software, I loved using it. But after I fresh install, I tried to look at alternatives. Tried Total Commander / XYplorer, but didn't like them. Currently using FreeCommander. Doesn't have all the bells and whistles of DOpus, but its free!!!
