still hanging out for those free tickets

    • If you are signed up for business side you get some free, boss is sending me while I holiday?

      • How to sign up? thanks

      • I'm not signed up unfortunately. :( I do have an ABN though, do you have any deets on how to go about doing this?

        • Not sure sorry, its my boss who is signed up.

    • Me too ……. I don't pay to enter the Vic market, just pay for what I buy, food show seems you pay to get in so you can shop.

      • To me paying for just entry is crazy.

It would have been ok back then, we've been going for 4yrs maybe? And it used to be better with more samples, and workshops e.g. coffee and pasta. But these days it's not worth paying for entry.

I don't think I have ever paid to go to the food and wine show (always managed to get free tickets). I honestly don't feel it is worth anywhere near what they charge for it.

It's worth it for free, but not much more. It's just businesses promoting themselves.

  • Saturday is the only day worth going.

    • Friday is the least crowded (my preferred day) and Sunday afternoon for the good deals. You can haggle if you buy bulk sometimes.

      • +1 on that and for your reasons. I tend to go Friday morning because it is not so crowded. I wouldn't pay full price for the tickets, and did debate at this price, but I usually taste enough things to make it worthwhile.

        • I do a half day Friday and go check everything out in the arvo, and then go again Sunday for bargains

        • @mparf: Do you buy both tickets, or do you have access to "freebies"?

        • @try2bhelpful:
nah, i haven't gone since 2015 because there were zero free tickets that i was around to grab last year, and this year is still fence sitting.
but i only ulitise free tickets for these types of events. I really like cheese

  • Just putting it out there. The only place I could get free tickets was through work, and they are all gone now. If people want to go this is cheaper than paying full price. If people can point out how to get free tickets I would like the links please.

    • Yeah there doesn't seem to be as many free tickets being given away, so far.

  • I have been many times and never paid. It is not worth an admission fee. I would also love it if there was an evening session that was over 18's only. It really is hard enough to move around that place let alone dodging prams.

    • How do you normally get your freebie tickets?

      • I normally get them from Ozbargain, usually companies and partners offer them up. Submit your details and they are emailed to you. Have not seen any such promotions this year. Also sometimes from being a Citibank customer.

        • Yeah, my work changed the way they notified people this year - grumble, grumble - so missed out. I agree the freebies are a bit thin on the ground this year, which is why I went for this one. By the time I add in my wine, and cheese, tastings I usually get my money's worth. (Maybe I shouldn't tell my doctor that). I do agree that the shows aren't as good as they once were, but I'm willing to give them another chance.

    • I hate pram pushers, they're mainly bullies that ram into everyone else!

      • yeah and it's also the size of the prams ….. like landrcuiser vs corolla…… they want want to make sure that in an accident with another pusher their child will survive because they hve a larger pusher while the others pusher is crumpled under theirs……
even scarier is the age and size of some of the kids in the pusher ….. i reckon they have graduated primary school …

reminds me of the add on tv with kids playing footy " which one is your kid" " ……"oh the one they call the fridge"
