  • How bright are these really?

    • +2

Based on the last 2 deals here and here I'd say they really are 45 lumens.

    • +12

They are really as bright as claimed, they arent your normal 5mm led lights. Nitecore dont lie about their lumens.

      • -6

Unless you've measured them with an instrument you have no way of knowing. The human eye attempts to maintain the same level of light regardless of external levels automatically.

The lighting business is plagued by products that are not as bright as they claim.

        • +3

Nasty people here who neg somebody who is 100% stating facts. I'll help with one Pos vote.

  • +6

These lights are great for brightness but mine didn't last too long before it broke :(

    • +10

and if you buy too many you will end up broke

      • +5

I've gotten 8 today. Bring on the bargains! (I'm actually broke, please help D:)

    • Mine broke too after a year or two of use. Bit disappointed since I treated it pretty well with minimal use.

    • I've bought 4 previously - 2 have broken after a couple of charge cycles. That's pretty crap actually.

  • Fk I just bought a whole lot of them from gearbest today. More wouldn't hurt, I guess?

    • +2

If you do, could you please report back on how long each order takes? I bought one back in January from everbuying that still hasn't arrived.
(PS thanks for the reminder that I still need to put a PayPal claim in).

      • Gearbest is normally pretty good. Unregistered shipping on average takes about 3-4 weeks to arrive.

      • (PS thanks for the reminder that I still need to put a PayPal claim in).

Why don't you contact everbuying first?

      • I'm going on a gear best hiatus. Their orders have been taking longer and longer.

Still waiting on an early March quadcopter order…

  • Reckon I'm gonna grab a couple of these. The last one I had lived on my keychain about a year before it stopped working. Definitely got my money's worth!

  • +2

these are pretty good for keeping on your keys. easy to charge and handy at both low and high power. the only annoyance is you can easily turn it on without realising.

That is the main reason I am upgrading to a nitecore TIP

    • Thanks a good point. I've put them on my keychain and normally have my keys in my pant pocket. A couple of times, I've found the torch on and have no idea how it turned on. You can recharge them easily but it is annoying when you want to use it and suddenly you realise it's dead.

      • +1

"..it is annoying when you want to use it and suddenly you realise it's dead."

        Like anything and anyone.

        • Specifically if it is in ones pocket. Really, not too hard to handle

    • with the nitecore TIP, is the button press harder?

      • +3

First version required both buttons to be held to toggle lockout. There was a parasitic drain in early builds which apparently they resolved.

A 2017 version works a bit differently, without a lockout mode but a button protector and a couple of minor changes.

Note the tip cost $32 or so and is 350 lumens max instead of 40, among other things.

How long is delivery from there guys? Ordered my first pair. Please don't let this be another rubbish purchase from OzBargain.

  • Thanks, good price and great little lights, maybe I'm lucky but mine is still going strong, its been on my keyring for more than a year now.
    Brought 4 more.

  • -6

Quality is rubbish. I've had mine for just a little under 5 months and it's a bloody strobe light at all brightnesses except the lowest. Stay away from this crap, it'll let you down when you need it the most.

  • +1

This deal brightened up my night.

    No?

  • +3

How trustworthy is Lightinthebox? This seems like a prime product for cloning.

[edit:] I know, there are better versions of this light now… I'm a bit drunk and just got home though. I guess cloners would be more focussed on the newer models, or maybe they're trying to get rid of old stock. I dunno… buuurp

    • Switch off the light. You'll feel better in the morning

Just google, lightinthebox ozbargain, click on some of their other deals and read the comments. These guys are aweful and you wouldn't wanna buy from them! They lure you with 'Express shipping' and then post the item with standard postage. Speaking from an experience with them, be warned off these mob.

      • Telling us to Google isn't giving reason to neg the deal.
It doesn't say anywhere that they're offering express shipping. It's only an option that costs extra.

        • May be you need to read what I wrote again. it wasn't a review about this deal. My response was to Fappo for asking about lightinthebox in general. I've bought a phone from these guys where they listed free express shipping with the deal and they posted the item with standard postage. there are other deals where people bought laptops from these guys with express shipping and they still haven't received it for months. The negative vote is for lightinthebox in general (which they deserve). If you don't believe me, go ahead and order I don't care, I was warning other fellow ozbargainers about how awful these guys are.

Great deal, if this is a genuine unit that is. There are many a fakes. Big Clive (on YT) reviewed a real one and a fake. Tread carefully with the seller though, they gleamed paypal for my details and generate an account despite opting to go the "guest" method, spam me with marketing messages which were painful to stop and in my case haven't shipped the item or it's got lost (Xiaomi Earphones)

    • +1

Big Clive is great. Reminds me of what I used to know (unused degree in electronics) and had the accent of home. His videos are a very nerdy and nostalgic way of chilling out for a while.

  • +2

Comes up as $7.15 AUD for me unless im missing something… on mobile.

Wondering if i need this compared to my phones flashlight.

    • Yes same here

      cash rewards may help?

    • +1

      Pay in US dollars

      • how do you do that with paypal?

    • +2

Shows as $7.15 in AUD, but when you change to USD it's $5.00

When I paid with Citi Visa in USD the total was converted to AU $6.76 each.

  • -1

    Never mind

  • +1

Mine was $6.67 with 28 degrees card. Thanks OP.

  • I have one of these, the plastic bit that holds the keyring in broke yesterday. Torch still works fine though.

  • bought two about a year ago, first one hasn't died yet and the second still in the packet if it ever does.

i can vouch for the ip65 rating, i think it's been through the wash 3-4 times already

  • Just a word of warning the build quality of these things is not good. Go online and you will see many people with dead tube lights.

  • +1

Had mine for over a year now and a second in the packet. I think they're great, really bright and holds charge for a surprisingly long time.

I've only only had to charge them when I've left them on accidentally in my pocket.

    • +1

Similar here! Great little light. Supplied one to each member of the family.

I keep my keys in my pocket and as the torch is so handy tend to find a use for it every day.

  • you switch the currency on top right of the website before you starting checking out.

    not in paypal.
not to do with your visa.

    • Somewhat inflated. I shared the MasterCard rate.

  • wish they stocked the Tube RL

  • Looks like a Taser at first glance

  • I'll see what the hype's about.
It's always good to have a couple spare torches in case of a power outage at night time.

These are the size of a double A battery, pretty small.

  • -3

I thought these mobile torches would have died off by now as most smartphones these days have a torch function using the camera flash

    • -2

Dunno why you were negged, reversed….sent this offer to a friend & received a reply "no thanks " & stating uses mobile as you said…………coincidentally had a plumber visit a couple of days ago, what did he use for a torch, his mobile.

      • -2

reversed your neg too. some people get a bit sensitive and precious when they get questioned I guess

  • Thanks. Just ordered 2. Not that I need them. But a bargain is a bargain.

  • nite build quality is very good. thanks for the post, will get one.

  • Tried to order but they charge shipping. Not sure what I did wrong there

  • -4

What the crap is this? Cheap kinder surprise light. Bargain, get your cheque books out.

  • Great keyring. Had mine over a year. Just ordered another for spare

  • Great. Been waiting to buy another. Use mine daily. Had for more than one year.

  • I ordered 10 days ago and I've come back to find an email saying that it's only just shipped out. Ludicrous that it should take so long.

  • +1

    Anyone receive yet?

  • I too would like to know if anyone has received their order yet?

  • Nope haven't received anything yet… might take a while I reckon.

    • Free shipping typically takes a month in business days. Smaller the item/value the cheaper method used basically.

  • +2

Just got mine today in the mailbox.

  • +1

Just got mine today in the mailbox too.

  • Received mine on 29 May (ordered on 6 May).

Unfortunately the ON/OFF switch is not working. If I press very hard at an angle on the front edge, I can get it to turn on sometimes (a bit hit or miss and alot of pressure is required). I have logged the issue on their website. Disappointed. Let's hope they have a solution.

  • Still haven't received mine. Sure is taking its time T_T

    • hi dear, sorry for the late reply. do you mind pm me your order number? so that i can check it for you.

      • That's fine, I received it yesterday thanks.

        • ok, glad to hear that lol
