I bought the previous packs at $3 on sale multiple times before, so don't know why you say never to be repeated. Anyway, it is a good deal, and woolworths is also doing them for $3 intro price.

going to stock up on Onyx 12 (the best one IMO)

    Cheap going.
I am not keen on most flavours of l'or pods but at that price might give them a go.
The lavazza pods a month ago for $4 was fantastic, good coffee. But even the Coles own brand ones are ok.

    • Going to give them a try again too - I didn't mind the strong one, but didn't like the old plastic packaging.

      • Coles plastic ones are better than the Woolies brand one - packaging and coffee wise.

Lavazza have foil top and bottom.

it depends on the machine too, some arent great with the plastic ones, nespresso is designing weaker smaller pins that pierce the capsule to stop people buying compatible pods.

I havent had L"or for a while, when did they go to aluminum pods.

  • "never to be repeated" is a bit of a stretch.

They are 50% off quite often

    • See edit .. :-) .. !!

    • They are 50% off quite often

The original L'Or pods are/were, but since these are new the pricing is just introductory until we know otherwise.

      • They are the same price so logic says we will see similar deals.

  • In Woolworths catalogue this week at $3, hence the price reduction at Coles.
    Good price.

I quite like the L'Or capsules. Wonder if there is any difference in taste going to aluminium from plastic…

Bought some for $4 at my local iga only yesterday. clearly got scammed.

The new capsules would explain why the old plastic ones were on clearance for $3 a couple of weeks back. I'm also not fond of L'or, but at this price it's worth giving them a try, I guess.

  • Finally a third party pod brand that make aluminium pods.
    Picked up 3 boxes today.
They look almost the same as the original Nespresso branded pods.

    • try the Lavazza ones too. still plastic but the top and bottom are aluminium foil so work well.

      • I recall that "MUST" pods from the coffeepodshop or IGA do this foil at top and bottom too. The flavour of the pods are the big thing for me. I have really tried to find something that tastes like the actual arpeggio pods, but the closest I could find was the woolies own brand "intense", and those pods make my machine squeal when water is running through (Like it is really struggling to get the water through)

  • Nespresso told me not to use other branded pods and stick to genuine pods. They told me the others could damage the machine and it won't be covered by warranty.

Are they lying, and trying to get me to buy their pods instead of cheaper ones? Can it really damage the system or deny me a warrantY?

I've been using them for months and there is no problem, and how would they know what pods you used anyway. I refuse to pay Nespresso rip off prices and L'or has some great pod varieties to suit all tastes. Even at 30c per pod for L'or it is still a huge rip off for the miniscule amount of coffee you are getting (compared to buying beans by the kilo), but just low enough for me to pay for the convenience.

    • Were their lips moving?

    • Just like you should get your car serviced at the dealership to protect your warranty. Total BS

    • lying.
I have never used Nespresso pods, only ever bought other brands. Had the machine for maybe 4-5 years now and it was second hand when I got it.
mainly use Coles brand capsules in mine.

    • I know two people that have had their machines damaged by third party pods.

Some pods require you to use more force to close the handle and on their machines the pins that puncture the pod bent.

I use third party pods myself, but only ones where I don't feel I'm using extra force to close the handle compared to a Nespresso pod.

      • I agree that sometimes compatabilIty of third party pods can vary, but these new aluminium L'or were perfect (for me, anyway). No extra force or jiggling around needed. I have stocked up and hopefully will have enough to last until the next time they're half price, I'm very happy with them!

Yes - agree too! Bought and tried some over the weekend.

The redesigned L'Or pods are very close (if not the same) as the Nespresso ones themselves.
Everything from pressure to close the handle, flow etc is spot on - they've really done well, especially to keep them at the same price point.

I will most likely be using these from now on and I'll stock up during the discount periods.

Still $50/kg of ground coffee, so good for people who rarely drink coffee.
