  • Now only SA.

  • Only SA remains

  • Awesome, got it for SA

  • Ah well, too late for QLD tickets. Scored SA tickets to whoever wants them..

  • I onli need a single pass XD

  • Does Op when more tickets will arrive? Promotix and some sites normally release more in a few days.

    • +1

This is the message on the website:

      Game over man, GAME OVER!
Unfortunately all the double passes have already been won. Better luck next time.
Lucky winners, keep an eye on your email as Microsoft will contact you with tickets and details.

So assuming they stick to what it says, then no, it's all gone.

Remember that this is a competition, not just a freebie give away such as promotix.

  • +1

Has any of the lucky punters received the confirmation email with the tickets as yet?

    Thanks.

    • +2

Just checked my email and I haven't received mine for Sydney yet.

      • +1

        Thanks Rychi.

  • if someone wants to donate me qld tix i wont complain :D

  • +1

    Anyone got their tickets yet?

  • SA- No email yet, nothing in spam/junk folder as well :(

  • On Earth, no-one can have any tickets?

  • Still nothing ='(

  • Nothing here either yet for VIC…

  • +1

I wonder if we can get in if we've got a print out of the webpage saying we're successful with the comp? It's got our username up in the top right corner anyway.

  • +1

Has anyone here received their ticket yet? I haven't. Starting to think we got made. lol

    • +1

Some posted earlier that they received their tickets but not the confirmation email. Seems odd. I've got neither… and don't expect to see anything until tomorrow. It's not like they're gonna work on a Sunday to hand out free tickets for a movie.

      • I haven't received a confirmation email or ticket either. I got one for QLD long before they ran out :/

  • No email yet for sydney

    • +1

i think XBOX disregarded the winners from this thread :/

  • Nothing for Nsw

  • Hope the not last minute email comes at 17.59pm to cancel the free tickets.

  • For those who did not see the edit in the original posting, Xbox Australia posted this on Facebook "Hey Guys, not to worry! We're looking to send emails out towards the end of the week/monday with the event info early next week more as a reminder but your name with a +1 will be at the door at the screening :)".

    • Monday. So there is still hope.

      • Yeah, hopefully it won't be post COB tomorrow. Kinda need to print my ticket before leaving work as I won't have access to a printer come Tuesday.

  • +2

The waiting game sucks. Who wants to play hungry, hungry hippos?

    • It does suck.

They say our names will be at the door, but if it's not we waste a trip with our +1.

  • There's still hope lol

  • +1

I find it pretty poor that we have to wait until 1 day before the screening to know if we have the tickets… .It's very hard to make plans when you don't have any real proof of the tickets

    • Agree, the other free movie ticket comps I've won (and they seem to be the only things I have luck winning) all send out tickets by COB Friday of the week before the screening. It's usually a nice surprise to end off the working week and gives me time to arrange the +1 or find a substitute if I can't go.

But, this is a free double pass so I can't complain all too much but the timing does make it hard to work around compared to similar comps and giveaways.

    • I agree, free or not free, not even a confirmation email or anything.

    • yeah I mean I appreciate that it's free but leaving it at the last day or day before is pushing it late

    • Agree, especially for people like me who needs to arrange babysit…

    • Almost COB and nothing… I'm not going if it's not 100% confirmed as it is quite an effort to get there for me. Pretty slack if you ask me Microsoft!

  • +11

I hate the wait, so I ended up calling Marion Event Cinema (SA). They confirmed that there's an XBOX event tomorrow at 6:15, movie starts at 6:30pm at Cinema 20. You don't need to go to the box office, just go to Cinema 20 and your name will be at the door. See if you guys wanna do the same for the other states.

    • +2

      Now that's assertiveness!

Cheers mate. I might just do that if no email is sent out.

    • Thanks Maki, this helps with my organisation OCD.

    • +3

Jam factory VIC, 6.30pm, Cinema 10 Vmax. Same deal as above

    • +1

Brisbane Myer Centre confirmed that their screening is 6:30pm too with the door list. The girl wasn't sure which cinema as she just got verbal confirmation from someone else. Shouldn't be hard to find the right cinema number at that point anyway.

  • called the event Innaloo in WA and the AI said no enquiries over the phone but only through emails. I doubt they will ever read or reply the emails either.

  • Ha! This is gold… printers at work not working so now I can't even print the tickets if I get em today - lol

Will have to get a PDF of the ticket to put on my phone now… got no mobile data left.

    • +2

No ticket or printout required… Just show up at venue with a photo ID. They will have your name on the list.

  • +3

Got an update from Xbox Australia on FB: "Unfortunately there have been some issues with emails going out, if it said you were successful and you registered to a screening at the time you will be on the guest list at door, just bring your ID."

Looks like, emails might not come out. So just follow the above advice.

Doesn't really set your mind at ease since, if emails not out, what if they 'forget' to put your name on the list?

    • Cheers mate. Thanks for the head up. Suits me as I can't print atm anyway.

Now lets OzBargain the sh!t out of this deal tomorrow! :-)

    • Well if that's the case I'm not heading into the city with the risk of my name not being on the list… What a huge dissapointment! And this is Microsoft saying they can't send out some emails? srsly?

  • -1

I don't think I can be bothered to attend. I already booked my tickets for opening day in Vmax. These premiere/preview screenings are only any good when they have some of the cast in attendance or they offer free food/drink/merch, which I don't think is happening for this. Not worth the $10 train fare and travel time, would have been better if they offered a double pass to use at any time.

    • +1

I don't get your logic at all. From what I am understanding from your comment. Free movie tickets are not worth unless you get free food/drink/merch, you have to travel and spend $10 train fare but no problem doing that the opening day tickets you already paid for.

      • -1

having to go at a specific time during the work week and paying extra in tolls/transport/parking fares makes it more hassle than it is worth. The tickets I paid for can be chosen for specific time and local cinema, much easier.

        • +1

Alien covenant opening day is Thursday and from the sound of your first point, you were gonna sit train anyway. Still don't get it.

      • +1

I think nubzy might by going to a different cinema that's closer (especially when it's $10 train fare).

        • True but the free double pass would have offset the train ticket and he will end up spending lesser than actual session?

        • +1

@Letrico: Depends on one's schedule I guess. I've had to pass on a fair few free movie screenings over the past 6 months as I've had to take mum to an early hospital appointment the next day. Need to get my sleep so I'm awake at the hospital.

Also, there are those who live 1hr+ train ride to the CBD which is where most of these preview screenings are held. I use to be that far away and the hassle of spending 2hrs on the train was not worth it. I live 10min train ride from the CBD these days and even work in the CBD so these things are more than convenient for me when my schedule allows for it.

$ is one thing but time is another.

        • Bingo ;)

        • Ah, couldn't make it tonight… timing issue at the last minute. Mum's last appointment and subsequent work with educating her and dad with the change in mum's supplements regiment ate into the evening. Oh well, family comes first.

    • If your tickets are for VIC could you pass them onto me please? :)

      • If someone does pass you tickets, you might be surprised when you get to the door ;-)

  • +1

    FREE TICKETS TO GIVE AWAY!

Just kidding, but now that I have your attention… for those about to ask for a free ticket and didn't read all the discussion…

    1. No tickets are being issued.
    2. Those who got "tickets" are to just rock up on the day with ID. There will be a name list at the door.

    So… which cinema door?

    • obviously not the one where everyone goes through for pissing.

  • +2

So it's all good now? Hahaha! Thanks again to OP for the tip, although you gotta be quick !

    • the email does not say anything about a double pass, so I am worried that when I go with my friend, he will not be able to enter lmao. I hope that's not the case cause that will be frustrating and embarrassing.

      • +2

Says double pass on the Xbox Australia promotion page

      • +1

Xbox Australia on FB, 'Hey Guys, not to worry! We're looking to send emails out towards the end of the week/monday with the event info early next week more as a reminder but your name with a +1 will be at the door at the screening'.

        • oh great, I have everything planned now. will be watching Prometheus then go to the movies at 6.

      • +2

Your right hand doesn't count so you and a real friend is fine.

  • Got my confirmation email for Brisbane 3 hours ago. Awesome :D

  • me and my wife both entered, she got confirmation and i did not, anyone else not get a email?

    • if your wife got confirmation, & you didn't, you can still tag along as the +1 as it's a double pass. unless you we're hoping to take a friend each, which is why you both entered?

      • thanks, year exactly couple of people were going to come, if they cant all good but dont want it to be a hassle for them, will try and find out.

  • i got my email yesterday but now I cannot attend… bummer - may have to get there a bit late … hope they let me enter…

  • +1

    "Congratulations on cracking the code"

  • +1

Good movie diversion for couple hours. Thanks @hamza23 and Xbox:-)

  • +1

Thanks OP and the guys that provided the code. Arrived around 6:40 so all of the good seats were taken but free tickets are free tickets. And the movie wasn't half bad

  • +2

Thanks hamza23 and Xbox Australia for a good movie all around with my friend. Michael Fassbender was tremendous. Was in events cinemas marion SA.

Never buy popcorn and drinks from event cinemas, got 2 pack of popcorn and a 1 litre drink for just $7 instead of atleast $30

  • Great movie, well-organised screening. Heaps of empty seats, no issues getting good seats between 6:30-45ish.
