Futu Online seems to have 20% off everything as part of the Mother's Day sale (enter code during checkout). The original Mother's Day deal was posted here Original 20% off Selected Stores at eBay Deal but there was no direct link to the seller and you might've missed it. Coupon code requires you pay with PayPal.
Most of their deals aren't too great after the 20% off, but you can pick up some Ryzen CPUs among other things, which are cheaper than the best brick & mortar prices right now.

    Very tempting to upgrade. =P
1600 or 1700 would be my choice.

Thanks! I've always been lurking without an account for years but I've finally created one

      • Hehe stalker hey :). Nice user name, I could actually go for a coffee.

No, I am not buying, am not buying. -_- trying not to buy

  • That's a pretty good price to my knowledge. CPU doesn't do it for me but if you're in the market for one of these, it seems very good.
I do wonder if they'll drop even further in the coming months though.

    • Yep, they're still pretty much barely even released, I'm waiting for probably another 25% off current prices before I buy a few new parts.

      • Despite what some say online, AMD just took a financial pounding on the share market, Intel might be about to finally compete with a decent 6 core, plus the current Ryzen has no GPU, unlike Intel. Plus they are slower in single thread and overclock lower.

Another $30 off these would make them a great bargain.

        • Yeah, the air overclocks seem a little bit disappointing, or really the 'hard limit' of ~3.9ghz that most people seem to get.
They must be aggressively binning them to get enough chips that qualify as 1700X or 1800's, perhaps when they have refined the process there will be some better batches that make it worth upgrading for the overclocking potential over a decent Intel quad/i7. For most, probably just a sidegrade at this point.
My main PC has a Phenom X6 and I can't see much value in lashing out all the money despite how old that is. If I thought I'd be able to get 4-4.5ghz and a 1700 was cheaper, you'd probably talk me into it..

        • Yeah - I'm very tempted but personally going to see what Intel's 6 core offering is before jumping on the Ryzen bandwagon… Until then my trusty ol' Q6600 will keep kicking along.

  • Last week I purchased the 7 1700 CPU.
Can anyone please recommend a good motherboard from the futuonline list ?

If you're not looking to run multiple GPUs, don't bother getting the X370 motherboards. Stick with the B350 chipsets.

Just apply 20% off on Futu prices and compare with brick and mortar prices using something like Staticice

      • Agreed, even if overclocking the CPU will be the limiting factor rather than the chipset.

      • Thanks a lot.

I'll not be running multiple GPU's, so I'll be looking into these.

A quick lookup shows the prices are better in MSY even with the 20% deal.

If there is something better(model) in this range please let me know.

        • B350M Mortar Arctic is the one you want. Better IO and a few more features. bargain price for the board.

I too wish these Ryzen chips just had a little bit better IPC. still hard to justify upgrading from my i7 2600K!

        • @xyron:

Thanks heaps. I read about RAM compatibility issues. Will check for suitable RAM.

        • @xyron: Any reason you have suggested the Mortar Arctic(mATX) over the PC Mate(ATX)?

I am looking at upgrading to a 1700 too. Appreciate any insights.

        • +1

@Wheresmyspaceship: Mortar still has better audio connections, other than that they're pretty similar. the PC Mate is obviously a full size ATX board so if you need the extra expansion slots then go for that. i personally am a big fan of mATX builds at the moment. 99% of the functionality in 75% of the space :)

        • @xyron:

Thanks for the reply. I figured as much. I'm going to need the extra slots because 4 SATA will not be enough for all my storage media. Looks like I'll be buying a PCI-e SATA card…

    • Remember to check if your ram is compatible

  • Thanks for this. Looking to upgrade my mobo and CPU in my home desktop.

  • Omg! So tempting… But… I'm STILL on an almost 10yr old Dell 24" 1080p monitor… Need to upgrade that first :(
