Comparing Payment Gateways for Small Business

Hey OzB!

Just hoping for some feedback on payment gateways.

Tyro, Square, Banks etc are all on the list. Hoping to find out how the costs compare, especially for Tyro which doesn't list any prices.

Thanks team!

We have an Emmy facility in addition to a fixed line eftpos terminal and a bolt on e-commerce website backend with the CBA. I think the Emmy is the way to go over the fixed facility. I don't think any of the CBA offerings are good value (in fact I think the fixed facility and the web facility are bad value) but Emmy is OK given the fee includes a certain number of transactions. We use the CBA as it integrates well with our accounts etc.

My bro has a microbusiness and uses the paypal offering which works well for him (foodtruck): https://www.paypal.com/au/webapps/mpp/credit-card-reader

  • EWAY. Thank me later.

    • eway = 1.9% Visa/MC and 2.6% Amex.

Stripe = 1.75% for all cards. If you're 100% online then I would recommend Stripe.

Square = 1.9% for all cards. If you're a mix of physical and online then I would recommend Square.

      • eway 20c on top of 1.9% Visa/MC per transaction.

        • I use eWay and there is in no way I want to change.

        • +1

@TurkishDelight: I use Stripe in multiple businesses and there is no way I want to change.

          Good to have different views.

This is ozbargain though, and I was giving the op additional, cheaper alternatives

  • We use ANZ Egate. easy to use. reasonably priced. can process website orders or can manually process cards. Cleared same day.

Other options to use could be Pin payments or Eway as mentioned above.

    Good luck.
