my local said they cease trading as 'Eagle Boys' but reopen the next day as another brand… supposedly a few on the franchises will run with same name.
they also said name was "similar"… my bet is on 'Pizza Boys'

      said name was "similar"

      Beagle Boys…

      • +2

And they can just write the B on the box to get rid of old inventory!

        • +1

They were called Beagle Boys when they started in Albury, but following a letter from Disney they decided to rip the B off the car and hastily paint a beak on their existing logo to avoid any unpleasantness

    • Is your local not going to open as a Pizza Hut?

      • they didn't say that, they suggested they were becoming something else entirely…. also there is a pizza hut next door, so would not make sense!!!

    • It seems the franchise was bought out by Pizza Hut, so most will probably turn into Pizza Huts, or go independent.

    • +1

      Yeah The Boys Pizza
(According to my 17 y/o son, this could work)

    lol

    Dough boys

    • -1
    • They already exist http://doughboy.com.au/ and are the original company with many rebranding into Rocket boy. Both chains make very nice pizza and are in a different category of pizza to Eagle Boys, Pizza Hut, Dominos, Little Ceasers.

Now we'll see if the Domino Theory or the Monopoly Theory rules.

  • only 30% off?

Did they run out of dough?

    • +3

      They couldn't earn a crust.

      • +2

        That was pretty cheesy.

    • +1

They ran out of flying boys.

  • It's like millions of calzones suddenly cried out in terror suddenly silenced…

This is real bad for pizza chain diversity.

    • Why bad?
Just helps all the gourmet/good pizza places rake in more

      • Pizza is like sex, even when it's bad it's good. Sometimes you just want non-purist pizza.

        • +1

you clearly havent had really bad pizzas

        • @alebox: that rule is more ment about burnt ones ect, when the dough isnt cooked ect I just dont call it pizza rofl

    • User name checks out.

      • I've never had a rabbit burger

        • I've never had rabbit, not into eating rodents.

        • Me neither. I just think bunnies look cute in between buns or with pancakes on their heads!

  • Eagle Street Boys Pizza

  • Next door owner of Eagle boys local shop for last months drives car with pizza hut logo. And we do not have any pizzahut nearby. So seems they will rename to pizzahut

    • +1

      Unless they name them Hyundai.

  • I worked for their head office for about 5 years in the early 2000's, was a pretty decent company to work for really.

    Sad to see them go.

    • That's probably why they failed. There aren't enough margins in the pizza business to play nice.

      • Nah, Tom Potter (original owner) sold it off to an investment fund who ran it into the ground, it's pretty common for that to happen, Dick Smith had the same, so have many others. I left just before they sold and when I read who became the lead management team I knew it was going to go to shit, they were all the terrible managers, especially… well I shouldn't mention names but someone who was a public face for them (Not Tom Potter, he left when it was sold to my knowledge) was an absolute sociopath in how he dealt with people.

Basically they expanded too fast (note: they grew like 50% more stores in the time I was there without issue) after they got bought out, couldn't sustain it and crashed. There were a few stories over the years about unhappy franchisees but none of them I recognised, and I dealt with basically all of them when I was there.

  • Doesn't work for the deluxe & mega range

    • Yeah sorry I should've mentioned it's only valid for Cheap Eats, Classics or Traditional. Have updated deal.

  • won;t be missed in melbourne

So close to putting an order through, but then Domino's pop up outta nowhere with a free garlic bread.
Domino's still beating them right to the end :(

  • Are there still stores open. Haven't seen one for years.
