They are on the optus network so you’ll get 3g data speeds.

Which is very slow/unreliable in some areas. Never had much luck in Brisbane with Optus 3G speeds/connection.

Still a good plan for those on a tight budget.

I still can't get myself to vote positive though; have heard too many bad stories about LC customer service/billing issues. Also, go over your data limit and you're in for massive charges. Per minute billing is not great either. Would rather pay a few more dollars for TPG mobile.

  • These are resonable deals, would go on them if I wasn't under contract with Virgin.

Dont always believe what people say about the Optus network, perhaps in CBD but on the Gold Coast have rarely had a issue.

Pffft, it is a phone service. Save your uber downloading for your home PC.

      BTW: Three is 50c/mb.

      • -1

Smart phones … and there's a reason why phone companies have moved to shaped plans after customers have racked up excessive usage.

        Just be aware.

Phone service it is, but its become more than that … everyone uses each service differently whether they're aware of it or not.

        • +4

Its 1 gig man, learn to control your usage and you wont go over your limit nub

          • @massari: Seriously even with heavy iPhone use I wouldn't go over my 1.2gb a month

  • Looks pretty comparable to TPG mobile, the main difference is that you don't have to commit to a contract with TPG though.

    • OP says 12 month contract
plus no free fb, twitter, ebay, foursquare
although 13/18 numbers are a plus

Seems comparable since fb uses up at least 500 megs for me in a month! I watch vids and use mostly my phone

  • Cheaper than TPG and includes 13/18 in the cap which TPG does not. Not a massive downloader so 1GB is PLENTY for me, no chance of going over! For me 15 bucks a month for all of that is for nothin. A choice of phones coming in a couple of weeks too. Optus signal great in my part of Brizzie. Cant wait to sign up!

  • Who hit the neg button? Any reason for this?

  • +2

i am with live connected and i love it. you cannot fault them, i currently pay $20 a month for like 300$ worth of calls to anyone and 300 mb's of data. i was with 3 and they were wayy to expensive. so yeah. i recommend them. and for those who say they dont want advertising, you dont actually get any, i think ive only recieved like 2 adds for the 5 months i have been with them.

i really cant fault them for the price.

like common, 3's 19$ cap is a load crap and ur locked in for 24 months, this is like awesome.

    • I'm on this plan too. They no longer send ads - how mad is that!

  • Some loser is always giving liveconnected a negative for some lame reason. It's pretty stupid…

I've has some run-ins with LC, but it's been sorted out since & they never over CHARGED me just over INVOICED me.
I'm in North Brissy & my Optus signal is pretty poor here unfortunately. I'm still thinking of swapping over to TPG or not…

Their flagfall is 35cents. Does that mean for every standard text msg u send, you will be charged at 35+25, equating to 70cents per txt msg?

    • SMS are not subject to flagfall on any network. The flagfall applies to calls. SMS are 25 cents.

  • You'd have me on a $20, 2gig for 6 months otherwise it's getting a little deep. I could never trust contracting your mobile with these guys. To risky compared to the customer service and billing issues.

It is good value though. AND for those complaining about other mainstream providers caps Telstra, Optus, Virgin, Vodafone. I'd consider their plans cheaper if your on a contract as you basically pay for the phone and get the calls for free.

    Getting the N97 mini on Vodafone. It's $0 on a $29 cap. That's $696.
The phone retails for $749, I'm sure Vodafone only pay $450 per handset.
So then your only really paying $250 for 24months calls and data on the $29 cap.

I know it's still in Live Connected favor because of the data. But virgin have some pretty competitive contracts with their Smart Caps.

If you already have a mobile and looking for good value at a risk, then go ahead and try LC. But beware I warned you (:

    • How much do you pay for phone calls ?

I bought my nexus one for 600$ AUD = 25$/month for 2 years

      • this 11 $ cap = 36$ / 2 years

Much cheaper than vodaphons 79$ cap, or even the 49$ cap (for a desire)..

This is MUCH cheaper then any carrier.

Only comparable cap would be the virgin / vodaphone unlimited (voda to voda / virgin to virgin) if everyone was on them (well who you call)

I completely understand what you are saying and you're not wrong, but it doesn't always work.

I find that, in general, if you're looking for a really crappy/standard/basic phone, you're better off buying the phone outright and getting a plan which is BYO (like this, and TPG's ones).

If you're after a newer, 'top of the range' phone, then getting a contract MAY be more worthwhile (value-wise). However, I actually believe even if it means spending about $50 more by buying it outright vs a 24 month contract, it may be worth it just so you are not on a contract. I don't know if people realise how long 24 months is, especially in the industry of technology. So much can happen, so much can change, and not being locked down to a contract makes you as a consumer very powerful.

I'll give a simple example. Lets use, iPhone 4 since it's popular and quite new:
      - iPhone 4 outright, unlocked, 16GB from Apple - $859
      - iPhone 4 outright, unlocked, 32GB from Apple - $999
      - Compared to all the 24-month contracts available for iPhone 4
      - The CHEAPEST cost for any 24-month contract is $1176 with 3 ($39/month + $10/month for phone).

Say for example, you buy a 16GB from Apple, $859. Add on 24 months of a plan from either LC or TPG, say, $15 per month = $360. 360 + 859 = $1219

For $43 more, no contract, but you get, arguably, more.

      https://spreadsheets.google.com/ccc?key=0Am_nJ4W2zV-YdDBfdlF… - Spreadsheet comparing iPhone 4 plans

  • Once again, good value from LC.

    What concerns me:
    - 12 month contract - I hate contracts, and this has no phone (but, for this price, you wouldn't really expect it)
    - Live Connected credit? To be completely blunt, I don't think many non-OzBargainers have heard of LC. Personally I have not met anyone who has heard of them, so I don't think the LC credit is at all useful.

UNLESS… LC credit happens to be able to be used like TPG to TPG's 20 minute free calls? Which actually work to people on Optus and all of it's subnetworks (including Virgin). If that's the case, then this is pretty damn good.

      Just to fix this.

Live connected Apollo plans come with 1000 mins TPG / LC to GSM

Their TPG to TPG is just TPG to TPG, nothing else.

Any with the whole LC to LC credit, most my family have moved to it so its used to call them :D just gotta convert people :p

But TPGS credit is not To anyone. Only the 1000 minute plan ;)

      • Oh? Ok, I actually got TPG's plan when it was still advertised as 'yes' time. I was under the impression that their TPG to TPG free calls were just a change of name with a limit of 1000 minutes per month (on most plans anyway, previously they only had a 'fair go' policy).

With my TPG plan, I am able to call people on Optus, Soul, TPG, Virgin (basically anyone on the Optus subnetworks) using these free minutes, and I have been able to since I joined (March 2009).

        • Yep its a good deal :D I waswith TPG but jumped to LC apollo plan for the data. But I still use lots of the free minutes :D

      • I gave up long ago trying to convert people to the same network as mine. :) It's especially difficult to get people to convert to LC, a company that most people have never heard of.

LC has been around for less than a year, who knows if it will still be around in a years' time. Compare that to TPG, that has been in operation for 18 years.

Anyway, I use my phone for a lot more than just calling my family.

  • Another day, another 'deal' from LiveConnected

  • -1

keep in mind that excess data is not included in the cap and they bill per minute apparently

    • -2

Sigh, TPG excess data is also not included in cap.

And yes on the minute billing.

      • -1

yup but excess data is included in the cap saver plans for TPG, but not their talk and text plans

        • -1

          Exactly..

    • oh and international mms too

  • +1

    Title is incorrect. Should read:
    ….Calls/Sms +500MB/1GB Data

    not 500GB data

    • opps >< changed bro. thx

  • These people don't contact you fast. :(
If you go over your 1GB data does it take it out of the cap or do you have to pay real money? I don't get it.
