Also how much are these usually, why is this a bargain?

    • They were $15ea at Bunnings back when they had competition from Masters.

  • +1

This can be had cheaper on eBay, and if you just need a single one you can get it for nearly the same price. Not a bargain IMO.

The product is good (high compatibility with LED-incompatible transformers).

  • Regular price is $16.45 ea but at the moment we are offering special bulk discounts.

  • This doesn't look right. Philips make 5.5W LED downlights which are also equivalent to 50~60W halogen downlights - I've swapped out our most used lights for them and they're close. I got those for $2.50 each when they were on clearance. Even at $5 each is still way cheaper than this.

So even if brighter, not sure how many people would pay 3 times the price for that difference.

    • +1

these are dimmable, the 5.5w's aren't and noticeably not as bright… the beam angle is also wider on the 5.5 from memory. If you put them side by side it's very noticeable (I've used both)

      • I just bought $9.25 for a 4 pack at woollies, it's 425 Lumen, 60D, MR16. NOT dimmable. They were $40-$50/4pk normally every where.
so, OP has a good one. I bought a German brand OSRAM 8W dimmable for $10 each after 60% off in a 20 pack almost two years ago. so, that'll give you an idea.

    • These are retrofit, whereas I don't think the others are. These models will work in almost any situation even with ancient transformers. The other ones may flicker if you don't have the right transformer.

  • +1

Why not throw in free shipping? :p

  • You can Order Online & Pickup FREE from Melbourne Shop (Hawthorn).

  • Are these Clipsal C-Bus compatible ?

  • These are great… I swapped over my whole house from halogens to these.

Be careful purchasing these off eBay as some sellers are selling counterfeit and/or old versions which are actually different shape/dimensions.

easiest way to tell is how far the light part rises from the body…its comes out much further on the old/bad ones.

  • this is a great product better than any I've researched many.

i have them in my house only one that does a non flicker decent throw.

  • Any deals on cool white?

This is not bargain. DOn't even know if they are even worth the money as you can by a complete LED light set for under $20.
Following may be a bargain though..

These are not comparable to Mirabella LED Globes so a down vote based on that is ridicules.

If you have a link to the same lights cheaper then post that.

by the way these Philips LED's are good quality ones.I bought some dimmable ones from woolworths when they were on special for around $5 and moreover didn't have to buy 20+ to get discount

  • After picking up 72 no-name LED downlights from the Masters closing down sale @$1 each, and seeing them work perfectly in all my 14 year old transformers AND with dimmers, I am entirely unconvinced that there is anything that makes these special or dimmable. Go cheap I say. 10 months of use and zero issues. Extra use too due to all the women in my house.
