  • Do Sony still have a good reputation with tvs?

I remember back in the day they were considered one of the very best brands….

    • +1

I haven't had a sony since the trinitron days - I think that's the last time they had a market edge.

      • They had let themselves slip for quite some time. They have really lifted their game in the last few years. The old Trinitrons were excellent. The Bravias are excellent. My source is a lead tech at a Sony repair centre.

        • From what I have seen they still seem like a premium unit but are sloooooooow

  • Dammmm chen

  • I grabbed a 55X7000D a couple weeks ago. They are pretty awesome. These modern Sony TVs run Android.

  • If you have a Costco membership, it's $879.99 there. They did this just to match TGG because it was "on sale" for $979.99 just days earlier. Costco's price ends 24/04/2017 just like TGG.

  • I wouldn't buy this unless it's for the kids to watch wiggles DVDs on…Not a great TV and a couple of years old now.

Get a 7000D or 8000D, both have been in sale recently and probably will be again soon.

  • Genuine question, is this really a deal if the UHD Samsung is $1,095?

    • Well its $200 cheaper and a fair percentage of ppl realise that most content they'll view in the next few years will be 1080, unless you have Netflix and even then the UHD stuff they do is really not good material anyway. If you want UHD, the HDR HiSense for the same price is a better screen than the 6000 series Samsung. Terrible OS but better screen.
