        • +3

Think they fingerprinted the phone IMEI or some other detail, using diff SIM with one phone didn't work for me.

        • -2

@payton: Did it a few days ago, worked fine for me.

        • @Emphasise:
:O must try with a colleague's phone next wk, thanks!

        • +32

@Emphasise: please don't Broden all our burritos bro! not cool.
we love you guys but things like that make it much harder for us to give you guys more awesome deals.
Every other day I seriously have to fight internally to keep that deal going but that kind of behaviour is going to kill it for everyone else and we don't want that do we? We know you love our food so it comes from a good place. If you don't stop… the deals will, so help us help you and don't try and game it, thanks for your understanding.
          Sincerely,
All the OzBargainers at Guzman y Gomez

        • +3

@Guzman y Gomez: You're right, sorry about that.

        • @Emphasise: thanks! appreciate the update. Now go have fun with $5 burritos today!

    • +1

you do for the first time you use it!

      • What is the birthday gift when you sign up on the app and how do you get it?

  • Are click and collect orders through the app going to be charged at $5?

    • Not sure.. Hit them up on Facebook, they seem responsive to questions asked about it.

    • +1

it's in store only and we'll have plenty of mentions in the app to make sure no-one can order without first acknowledging the offer in store for the day. Somehow I just don't think that will be a problem for OzBargainers :P

  • +3

Burrito limit ?? Last time cinco de mayo they only let you get 2

    • +1

Couldn't you just line up again?

      • +3

It’s limited to two burritos per person per visit, so yes technically you could hit us up for breakfast, lunch, late lunch and dinner if you wanted do.

Or if you want to have fun with it, you could order one, line up again and eat your second in front of everyone else! Bare in mind, the line doesn’t really stop moving, so they won’t be jealous for long.

        • -1

so after purchasing two burritos - you can literally just line up again - that counts as another VISIT?

This really isn't clear in the T&C's

The $5 promotion is limited to either 2 Burritos, Mini Burritos or Burrito Bowls per person per visit.
Customers can take part in the $5 promotion as many times as they like during the promotion period.

          How will you manage this?

        • I think I saw an email saying the Coronas are $5 too ? Can you buy 1 Burrito bowl and 2 Coronas for $15 ?

        • +1

@billyb67: I can't officially say that. All I'll say is that we won't be turning anyone away who waited in line so whether you come back for dinner or 2 minutes after - up to you ;)

        • @systmworks: math checks out that's right!
other factors are if the restaurant is licensed and the max in a single transaction isn't limited legally by individual restaurant liquor licensing requirements and GYG reserves the right to refuse the sale of alcohol at any time.

        • @billyb67: you really gonna eat 4 burritos? I don't think they would freeze or microwave well…

        • +1

          @jonathonsunshine:

they do reheat just fine, do it every year :)
2 today & 2 tomorow, no need to freeze..

    • This is relevant to my interests - can anyone weigh in for the fatties? (No pun intended)

      • More than 2 burritos is bad for you.

        • Bought 3, and yeah, I agree.

But they are mostly rice anyway.

    • Call 131992 I'm sure they can help with your issue.

    • +5

What did you order? Bottles of water?

      • Plain Tortilla and Guacamole

  • Mexican food isn't for everyone. If you are asian you might be dissapointed. I certainly was. Just saying…

    • How about indian food?

      • +1

India is a part of Asia.

    • +10

I'm Asian and love Mexican food.

      • +1

that's actually what we find as well, our taste profile, our (customisable) spice levels and salsas all go down a treat

        • I live 5-10 mins from your Monash Uni store. Any tips on how to find the store inside the uni? I love your food but its a pain getting to Hawthorn or Fountain Gate for a burrito. You guys need a proper store in the area.

        • +1

@El Grande: Are you asking where the store is at Monash Uni, because it's at the NE wing of campus centre, facing out towards St. Ali's.

    • +7

Hey keep those blanket statements to yourself. I love Tex mex. Honestly go and broaden your horizons, you're in a country where you can easily do this.

      • Yeah lol thats the first time I've heard something like 'asians dont like mexican food' but it was funny ill give it that. The queue this morning had plenty exotic people of the east

        • "exotic people of the east" lol totally /notracist.

Shouldn't it be Anglos are the exotic people of the west? Since Australia is in the East :)

    • +4

So in essence what you are saying is…. "I am asian and am disappointed that Mexican food didn't taste like asian food".

    • That's a huge generalisation for a sample size of 1. Is it more or less of a disappointment for non-Asians?

    • You are so wrong, Asian is too big for your general assumption. We are from SEA (South East Asia) loves Mexican foods

      • You use an acronym and then add the full words? Some people have too much time… but then I just replied to this so who am I to talk?

    • AKA I like it really but believe Asians OZBD each deal and wish to keep the queue down for myself;)

  • I hope that they still have enough supplies after Cinco de Cuatro.

  • +2

Do you have to have a sink full of mayo on it?

  • I'd like to know how they're going to differentiate between these two rules -

The $5 promotion is limited to either 2 Burritos, Mini Burritos or Burrito Bowls per person per visit.
    &
Customers can take part in the $5 promotion as many times as they like during the promotion period.

What actually counts as a "visit"? You just queue up again?

    • +6

Keep lining up - we're not turning anyone away, even if we see your face throughout the day - we'll just love you more ;)

  • which one is the most expensive?
and please make sure dont not reduce the content/ingredients…

    • +1

      Engrish?

    • +3

Burrito and Burrito bowls are the same price normally so you get the most bang for your fiver with that.
and don't worry - they are the same size as we make them every other day :)
      Enjoy!

      • +1

        Not at all
Australia square - got less than the usual portion

        • Agreed. It was 90% rice, 10% chicken. Don't cheap out on the meat plz

    Today is the day.

Please provide an update on how long the wait was to place the order and then pick up - and the location.

    • Penrith @2:30pm, 2 in the queue ahead of me, wait time was a couple of minutes at most. The order was delivered to the table within a few minutes, not even long enough to wonder "where's my food". The staff, despite the busy day, were friendly and happy.

  • Rhodes NSW - Went in on my morning break at work was in by 11:50am and out in 5 minutes HOWEVER by 11:59 as I was walking out of the store the line was snaking toward the food court and anyone who got in around lunch time was in for a bit of a longer wait.

GG is slop, I ordered a burrito and it was awful looked like moosh. Crows Nest one they can't even speak English or have COLD drinks.

Madmex is 100x better you can SEE what they are doing to your order and it's not hidden in some back kitchen.

    • Madmex isn't $5 today though

    • Bought 4 bowls and 2 burritos (missus likes the skin) at Crows Nest around 11.30am - tastes great, like every other time.

  • +3

    Albany Creek store QLD
    Arrived 1207
Drive thru queue was out to the main road.
Decided to go in store instead.
    Began queuing at 1209
Order placed 1213 (Spicy chicken burrito and can of coke)
    Order received 1222
The drive thru would have been quicker. I saw cars receive their food and drive off who were in front of me.

    • +2

Thanks for sharing a timeline of your lunch visit with us.

      • Ha! No dramas.
@roughana wanted all the goss (above) so I hope he/she is happy I went to the effort!

Please provide an update on how long the wait was to place the order and then pick up - and the location.

    • I was there an hour before you and it looked like it was going to get busy.

For me: Straight to the counter. Waited about 5 mins before recieved.

When I left the queues were starting to grow.

Drive through was still quicker even at that stage.

  • Bit of a trek over from Radelaide. Gonna have to pass :(

    • One opening up cnr of Hindley and King Will so maybe next year?

  • +2

Australia Square had a line, but it moved pretty fast

  • Any plans for a South Australian store? Would love to try some!

    • +1

Yep. Even as an ozbargainer you have to value your time.

      • especially as an ozbargainer

    • Had too many Coronas?

    • Whole bunch of people in that line don't agree with you.

    • is that Rhodes NSW? I was there at 11:45 with no problems.

  • +1

Better than half price and so is the size

  • +10

    Ordered 2x burritos.

    Finished both.

    Not recommended. One is sufficient…

    • Ordered one.
My order number is after 80 people.
      Not recommended. 😩

    • I just had 2x burritos as well. I agree, it's a bit too much food.

  • +1

Parramatta Westfield store. Payment 1.51pm. Collected 1:54pm. Excellent service :D

  • +1

I was at Broadway at 10am when they opened, nobody there at all,
bought two, ate one, went back 5 minutes later and got another
two for later and went home :)

    Mission accomplished.

  • Aussie square, lines are long, grab a beer from Ryan's with the $$ saved and enjoy the Sun <3

  • How do you claim the free burrito for signing up to the app?

  • Perth (Northbridge) store was quite busy too, got there at 12:20 and came out at 12:45pm.

  • Belmont WA - when I went to collect tonight I overheard the staff member telling the customer its going to be an hour wait.

I just went to the shops and came back and was ready in 30mins

    • Rocked up at 6:45 and they came out and told those queing they were not taking orders as they were out of materials.
