Ryobi One+ 5.0Ah Lithium Battery

I want to buy a new 5.0ah battery for my Ryobi One+ tools, but I think they are hugely overpriced at $145 each. I'm not really interested in an off-brand eBay equivalent for as low as $65; it just seems to be too much of a gamble quality-wise.

However, I just noticed on the Bunnings web site that they sell a "two-pack" of these batteries for $199 (ie $100 each), which is a little more palatable except that I don't want two.

How would I go about finding someone else interested in going halves for the two pack, in the outer east of Melbourne? I'm not sure that Bunnings would be happy if I just stood by the tool counter until someone else came in to buy one.

Apologies if this is not the right place to post this.

Could you just post the 2nd one on GumTree?

Except if you can't sell it you are stuck with two for $100 more than you wanted to pay

  • Maybe advertise it on gumtree first? Make an ad for $100 - once someones contacted you explain the situation and offer to meet at bunnings for the transaction. Should be very simple with a genuine buyer.

  • Does it come in a combo pack? eg. Skin + Battery + Charger? It might be worth looking into selling the other parts to offset the cost. I know I keep an eye out for the skins, in the event someone is selling skin only for any reason. A new skin at a slightly discounted price is sometimes more appealing than a used skin.

  • I bought a blower with 5aH for $99 when last on sale

    • So did I and they aren't much more than that now. Certainly cheaper than a battery at $145. You'll get a charger also. No charger with the battery packs.

      • The blower with 5.0ah battery is $199 now, and the blower skin is $99 by itself.

    • That was thanks to Masters, not going to happen again :(

      • Yea maybe

  • Just in case anyone is still interested :-), I finally ended up getting a new genuine Ryobi 5Ah battery for $80 delivered on eBay.

    • Was it a once off or a reseller?

    • Yes still interested, do you have the eBay sellers store link at all please?

  • For some reason, I can't open the original auction on eBay - perhaps it was too long ago. It was auction number 172665716943, the sale price was $71.60 plus $8.40 postage, and it was back in May this year. The seller was called monsterbargains and they don't seem to have any further 5Ah Ryobi batteries for sale. https://www.ebay.com.au/sch/monsterbargains/m.html

However, a quick look at completed sales seems to show a few apparently genuine Ryobi batteries have sold recently for around the $80 mark. Set up some searches and good luck.
