Ryobi Airwave 50L 2.0hp Air Compressor $150 (Save $50) @ Bunnings

60

Bought this to go with the $30 nailgun I bought

The Ryobi Airwave RA-C2550-G direct-drive air compressor is the perfect addition to any DIY workshop for powering various air tools.

With 2.0 horsepower, the unit's robust motor and pump ensures the 50 litre tank is re-pressurised quickly and efficiently. It includes two regulated outlets fitted with popular nitto-style couplers, which suit most air systems.

A second pressure gauge displays the current tank pressure, and with it's large wheels and extended handle, the unit is easy to move and maneuver. It comes with compressor oil included.

    Free air delivery 120 L/min (4.2 cfm)

    …in case anyone wondered.

    Presumably due to Aldi's compressor @ $149

    Which ones better ?

    https://www.aldi.com.au/en/special-buys/special-buys-sat-22-…

    • ALDI 2.5hp will deliver more air than the Bunnings 2hp. Depends on whether the tool you want to use needs it.

At 271 litres or 9.6 cfm if the advertised specs for the Aldi compressor are correct it's more than double the air capacity of the Ryobi, so should be the better buy.

      • +2

Be careful of how it's measured. Think RMS vs PMPO

        This RYOBI also states:

Maximum air delivery 190 L/min (6.7 cfm) at 0 bar tank pressure

which has no practical use, perhaps other than comparison of inflated spec sheets.

          inflated spec sheets

Yes got to make sure the specs aren't overblown

          @leTintin:

Makes a change from BUNNINGS inflated prices

      • The Aldi is 271L/min intake
The Bunnings is 120 L/min delivery (to the tools).

Some of the that difference is going be cooling etc. I'm not saying one is better, but the reported stats make a direct comparison on that point difficult.

    • So it's been noted that Aldi's spec of 271 lpm is its maximum intake, not its free-air-delivery.
What IS the Aldi compressors Free Air Delivery then???

How does one get the spec on this??
It is a vital spec in deciding between the two…

If this is your first compressor make sure to check the oil level every other use and to drain the water moisture tap after every use. I didn't on my first compressor and it didn't last long. It was a cheap SCA one so I wasn't too sad, I got my money's worth out of it.

Also remember to oil your tools before or after every use.

Bunnings bunnies doesnt get price discounts, unless Aldi comes up with something.
    Grrr

This, don't reward Bunnings with a purchase (unless you have no Aldi store near you)…shitty behaviour IMO.

    • Case in point, Bunnings has since jacked price back up to $199, now that it's no longer special buy at aldi. Grrrr!!!

  • Hmm…I've been looking for an inexpensive compressor. I'll check both of these out. Thanks for Obake for the good advice, too.

  • So Aldi's is much better value?

  • Which is better quality? Last longer.

    • I have a 15 year old GMC that's still going. Choose a colour you like, though the ALDI looks to be slightly bigger capacity.

      • They made things better back in the day, these will be lucky to see 2 years with light use imo

        • I would have said the GMC was of similar quality to these offerings.

  • how do both of these compare to the one from SuperCheap ?
similar price but comes with some kit (hose etc.)
