Wisdom Teeth Surgery - What to Eat?

Soup isn't cutting it, I need more… but can't handle even canned spaghetti. Getting all these crazy cravings based on what I see on insta/fb, so may stay off that for a while.

What did you eat after wisdom teeth surgery?

        • That's obfuscation, not misspelling, and google still works :-)

    • The dentist said we're doing it. Only the bottom two decided to be special and grow on the side though. They'd eventually push the other teeth, and it would hurt.

  • I do not know anyone who has had wisdom teeth removed and was wondering what were some personal reasons.

    • +1

they get removed if they are not coming in straight (impacted) or if there is not enough room in your mouth for them

  • In all seriousness, Aussielent, a locally manufactured "Soylent" might work really well post surgery.
    Complete nutrition, no chewing required.
I prefer the Vanilla flavoured one :)

  • Pumpkin soup was excellent. You can try putting normal food in the blender if you want - some people are a bit weird about it though.

  • No offence but reading this made me feel how lucky I was when I got all of mine out. Was chewing on chicken by Day 4

    • What's your secret? I think I'm on Day 6 atm.

  • I had 3 removed at one go under general anaesthesia (had the 4th removed before that) and started eating fried chicken from the 3rd-day post operation as I was losing my mind with all the baby food from the first 2 days. Tilted my head to one side and chewed so I didn't end up chewing on the side that had teeth removed from the top and bottom. Hurt a little bit, but it was totally worth it.

All in, salt water rinsing, ice packs tied to my face and painkillers did the trick. I also slept a lot. Good times.

  • Third day I was chewing on the other side. You can't bruise the side where the teeth has been extracted, no teeth there.

  • My friend's brother had an operation to fix an overbite. It involves cutting up his lower jaw, extending it and letting it heal.
He was on soup and liquid diet for most part of the year. His face swell to bobble head proportion for weeks. No mother could love it. The plus is, he was chubby pre-surgery and in the course of the year lost much weight due to not eating.

He healed up nicely and managed to bag a pretty wife later in life.

  • Milkshakes are tasty after wisdom teeth surgery. Mashed potatoes would be good.
