  • Why is band 28 so important? I see it mentioned a lot.

    • +2

According to https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/257954, it's got good coverage for areas that may not have good coverage (indoors, rural areas)

    • 700Mhz (B28) – Telstra, Optus

Because Telstra and Optus use it to provide LTE service.

      • No deal for me then. Thanks.

      • +1

I still get LTE with my Oneplus 3 on Optus, so I'm guessing that there's several bands with it.

        • +1

1800mhz is the band that all phones support and hence the most congested also.

      • Only for 4G+ or 4GX

    • +2

Band 28 is 700 MHz, it penetrates through walls better, also better coverage between towers (don't have to be as close), also used for advanced services such as channel aggregation.

That's why TPG paid $1.2M for band 28 spectrum for the new network they are building.

Currently used by Optus and Telstra, now TPG will also be on band 28, Voda use 850Mhz.

      • $1.2B*

      So better Penetration, I guess that's important…. ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)

  • Whats the Camera like on this beast?

    • Not great at all, that s why them improved on the new model One Plus 3T and still not great camera.

    • +2

Pros: Fantastic colour, good for photos in the dark, photos are clear. My family used it as our camera on an overseas holiday and we were all impressed with the results.

Cons: Probably not as good as a >$1000 phone, but I doubt the average user would notice the difference, and unless you're zooming in a lot, the prints will likely look the same.

Conclusion: From personal experience, quality is great! Unless you're a professional photographer who doesn't mind spending twice as much, then this phone should be perfect!

Bought from Geekbuying and never receive the goods. Contacted the support several times and nothing happened. Be prepared…

I bought a Oneplus 3 last year, shortly after release.

It's a great phone, and runs really smoothly no matter what's running (have literally 500 tabs open right now).

The model I bought is the EU variant (the one being sold) and I haven't had any issues with service. Occasionally I won't get 4G when someone else has it (I'm with optus) but other times I'll have service when they don't (they're using an Australia phone with optus).

With all of that said, Oneplus phones tend to cost the same until the next model releases, and I believe that a new model releases every year, which would mean that in a few months we should be seeing the Oneplus 4.

If you want a good phone now, buy this one.

If you don't mind waiting, wait until the next release which will likely cost around 600. (no sources, pure speculation)

Indeed, the official rom is great if not the greatest( No bloatware) and battery life is not bad either. Fingerprint sensor is quick as well.

  • What are people's experience with Geekbuying (recently)? Considering buying the Oneplus3 but reviews I've come across so far suggest geekbuying are slow to ship and poor customer service.

    • Things have definitely improved since about 6 months ago. Orders typically get shipped in 2-7 days (excluding holidays) and free shipping can take up to 30 business days.

Feel free to message me any time if there are any issues or concerns. I typically respond quite quickly ;)

Recently (Dec2016) purchased two phones through Geekbuying, one DOA and returned via registered mail. Geekbuying refused to acknowledge receipt despite confirmation by courier. Got money back via PayPal. Suggest look elsewhere.

  • Does the media players come with a remote? How do you control them, I don't want to have a keyboard/ mouse while sitting in bed.
Or do you buy something like this http://www.geekbuying.com/item/Tronsmart-TSM-01-Air-Mouse---…
