    comes in 3 colours

    black isn't a colour.

      black isn't a colour.

If you want to be so pedantic it's actually an achromatic colour.

        it's actually an achromatic colour.

        achromatic : adjective without colour.

These are alright for casual use, the beam is extremely bright for a flashlight of its size, it far surpasses cheap flashlights you might buy at a news agents but the quality is absolutely garbage. I bought one a half year ago and it only lasted a few months with fairly minimal use. I guess this is an alright deal because they are so cheap but if you are serious about flashlights it might be worth it for you to buy something higher quality.

Its a good deal if it is a cree emitter, but its more likely to be a copy with an inferior latticebright emitter. Those ones have a horrible purple colour that will make you hate the torch. Safer to spend a little bit more money and get a proper torch that you will enjoy using. For a glovebox throwaway? It might be passable.

    • Not sure what this even means: "horrible purple colour that will make you hate the torch. Safer to spend a little bit more money and get a proper torch that you will enjoy using." Do you mean that the light beam is purple? Pretty sure I bought 3 or 4 of these a few years ago, and they're white not purple?

After a while they change the emitter… I bought some earlier on (several years ago) that were good, but then I bought a few more about a year ago and they were a horrible sickly cold purple tint shade of white. I'm just throwing this out there as a caution, because fake emitters are unfortunately becoming common nowadays, especially on these ultra cheap torches.

    • I'm sorry, but I'm going to neg this as I don't see any evidence this is a CREE emitter. The sellers are very sneaky in not specifying CREE anywhere, and the clone sellers use the same bin naming schemes.

      • have removed any reference of CREE in description. cheers

  • I got some a couple of years ago from Banggood, and was pleased.
Genuine XP-E (no idea on the bin). Decent design, but no heatsink paste and limited contact between star and body.

Draws 1W from an Eneloop. Maybe 60 lumen (not 600) which is great for a 1xAA torch. Similar to an old-school 4xD-cell Maglite :)

If it really was 7W, it would die in a few minutes, like a Note-7.

edit: posted before reading pinchies 2nd post. Altomic, where did you get your description? It does not match the website now. Banggood has removed all occurences of the word 'Cree' from the page. No photos of the emitter. I'm now convinced by pinchies warning we are being scammed, so will neg too.

  • CREE Q5 300lm Mini Zoomable LED Flashlight Black(1AA/114500)
    US$3.99x1

The last three I bought (as above) from Banggood have been awesome. They're ridiculously bright, and certainly white.

The models changed slightly each time I bought one, but they're still used frequently with my Eneloops.

Unlike most of the crap I buy from OzB, these are used frequently - most recently a few hours ago by me (work light), and another by my daughter (camp)
They also fit really well into the cheap bike torch mounts.

I might buy a couple just based on the previous ones, it's not a lot to gamble.

    • I'd love to be wrong on this one… can you please update us when you receive them? Would be great to hear if they are "good" again. :)

        They're banggood.

  • Max Output: 600 lm

    Not a chance.

  • Thanks, ordered 3.
Been wanting something to stick in the glove-box of the car etc.
Came down to $2.96 each when ordering 3.

  • Just received two of these from the previous deal. It's a case of you get what you pay for. Generic LED emitters of different cool white tints/outputs. One LED was off centre, but that doesn't affect it too much. Not a bargain, just a fair price for a Chinese product.
