  • nice one OP

  • "$49 Each", I though it was a ridiculous combo price by the description like the titan fall 2 & battlefield 1 from a few weeks ago.

    • +2

      Fixed

  • Thanks OP - got one on hold to pick up tonight. Was not to start till tomorrow - seems the online team jumped the gun…

  • Ghost Recon is a fun game, well worth it at $49.

    • +1

FWIW I bought and returned it. I thought it was a buggy, boring mess not worthy of the ghost recon name.

      Pretty decent price though.

      • +1

I came across no bugs, there has been a big patch released since release though that addresses some issues. And did you play in co-op? Great fun when you play with 3 mates.

        • It was in dire need of a patch. I returned it last weekend. I did play it co-op a few times but those guys returned it as well. I couldn't see the fun side of it in co-op either to be honest. IT felt like a cross between farcry and just cause 3. It simply didn't feel fun. I did love every other GR in the series and was hoping this was more like those ones. Very much a matter of taste as I know people who like it as well.

On that note, Ubisoft seems to be releasing very broken games this gen and patching them later. I know everyone is doing that but it seems to me that Ubi are the worst offenders and then, like Assassins Creed Unity and Watchdogs, they were still rubbish.

This title isn't as bad as those two titles and at $49, it's worth a look if you're not jaded like me.

Nice but bit disappointed limited edition just means game + steelbook.

    • I have slight OCD about disc cover. All my PS4 games have normal covers so steelbook is "no no" to me. The latest Tomb Raider is an exception as it has leather cover for normal edition? Why?????????

      • +1

Haha, I thought I was the only one. I've been looking at the steelbook edition of Persona 5 that's coming out (the only version available on launch), wondering how it will look next to my regular PS4 game spines.

      • +1

Friend, just place all your steelbooks to the left side of all other games, that way the order heirachy becomes case type > alphabetical.

      • +1

You certainly aren't alone. I feel the exact same way too.

      • +1

Do you also arrange your games from R18+ to G like me, or alphabetically? I can't stand the classification colours being all mixed…

        • +1

you also need to arrange it by publisher, co-op availability, genre, and the year the game came out. Otherwise you're not doing it right.

      • For what its worth the Limited Edition GR:Wildlands comes with both a normal and steel case. :)

  • Are JB trying to get more aggressive/competitive with their game prices? I've noticed a lot of their pre-order/launch prices have gone down to $79 (rather than the usual $89), and they actually seem to be having a few sales lately.

    • I don't understand how slightly dropping the prices to be competitive for their new release games is being aggressive?

      • +3

Aggressive in the sense of taking action (the opposite of passive). If they're dropping launch prices to close the gap on Target and Big W and take some of their sales, I'd call it aggressive.

        • +2

I actually find them not competitive enough. I used to buy games at JB but not anymore (unless I can price match). BigW and Target seem to have better deals more often. And JB is only reactive to their prices and only for a week or two before JB put the prices back up.

        • @Siuto: I agree, which is why I'm hoping this is the start of a change. In the last year or so especially, JB have had some of the worst prices around for games. Sales have been few and far between, and older games remain at stupid prices for way too long. As a typical OzBargainer, I buy games in whichever store has the best price - I can't even remember the last time that was JB.

        • -3

I don't think you understand the meaning of aggressive.

        • @cdestratis: I think I understand the word fine enough.

Here's Google's second definition for 'aggressive' (the first being the 'violent' context):

behaving or done in a determined and forceful way.
"we needed more growth to pursue our aggressive acquisition strategy"
synonyms: assertive, forceful, competitive, insistent, vigorous, energetic, dynamic, driving, bold, audacious, enterprising, go-ahead, zealous, pushing; informalpushy, in-your-face, feisty
          "an aggressive promotional drive"
          antonyms: submissive, diffident

If you're in competition with another retailer, and you start making changes to be more competitive (like matching or beating their prices) and win market share from them, that's an aggressive strategy. A passive business strategy would focus on doing your own thing and not worrying about what competitors are doing.

I'm not suggesting they're going to start thumping their chests and throwing bricks through Target's windows.

        • @asubtleviolence:

Okay, well I guess we have different definitions of its meaning then.

A passive business strategy would focus on doing your own thing and not worrying about what competitors are doing.

In my opinion, this is what JB has always been doing, and it is why they have been a successful retailer.

        • @cdestratis: I think that's what they've been doing too, which is why I was wondering if they were trying to change.

  • I'm wanting to pick up Wildlands, but won't be able to play it until about three weeks from now.

Should I pull the trigger on this deal, or roll the dice on getting it cheaper in three weeks..? I don't particularly care about the "JB Hi-Fi EXCLUSIVE steelbook" edition BS.

I wonder if the price reduction is due to the game not selling well. I noticed a similar thing with other ubisoft games (Watch Dogs 2, The Division).

I am still playing Wildlands at the moment and I have the most fun playing co-op with friends (haven't tried playing with randoms). The game can get a little repetitive if you play solo.

I managed to pick up the game at $49 near launch (https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/296060) and I find it worth the money especially if you have friends to play with.

    • Damn, thanks for the heads up Siuto. This is what I was worried about, as I prefer to play single player :(
Same reason I didnt bother with the Division or Rainbow Six Siege.
Seems all their "Tom Clancy" games are going multiplayer… What does Ubisoft have against Single Player?
Next it'll be Splinter Cell :eyeroll:

    • I reckon ubisoft have really dropped the ball this gen. I hated division and ghost recon. I don't mind rainbow 6 seige but it's not as good as the older ones.

  • PC or PS4 for Wildlands is the question :|
Anyone with PC version, does it scale well with SLI?

  • Does For Honor (ps4) require an internet connection to play?

  • For honor golden edition is only 79(was149)

    • -1

I think that is the edition Trump plays….

    • Does anyone have any input into whether For Honor Gold Edition is worth it?
Tossing up whether I just get the standard or paying a bit extra for the Gold.

  • Thanks for the heads up, was gonna buy at Target until i saw this post.
