Bought this last month when mobileciti had it for $400 + 250 Cashback through the Comm card . Move was from a Samsung Note 4 edge and i absolutely love this phone- Not too bulky, unbreakable screen,1+ day battery ,Stock Android and With Marshmallow -you can allocate the SD card as the internal storage ,decent camera + Moto commands (Much better than s voice) . Even though you don't need a case for this phone ,i would suggest to get one as the black 'ballistic'material at the rear can get stains easily.

edit -It gets slightly hot every now and then but nothing alarming .Also Turbo charge is handy . I have no issues so far and highly recommend this phone.

      • SD 810 chipset .. its in my M9 .. you cant hold it without a case when i play games.. lol

  • The x has got android 7 in some countries ready….

Before buying, please google "droid turbo 2 green lines"

    • Is that also a problem for the Moto X Force?

    • -3

You just need to squeeze and twist the phone a certain way and it disappears. Stop looking for problems that aren't there.

  • Store name in title please

  • +3

    It has band 28.

It has 1,440p. It has Lenovo quality (LOL!).

Miles better buying that the Kogan.

    • Yep and band 12 if you want to use it in the USA!

    • +1

      And a plastic screen!…..

  • +2

This is cheaper than the g4 and is a step higher in terms of quality/specs

  • The only thing I'd be wary about is the camera. The ones I seen in past models is mediocre at best with random chinese phones having better cams.

    • +2

I got the phone a couple of weeks ago and it's really good. It's not to the level of the new Samsungs but still really good. The selfie camera with the front flash is really useful for night time selfies…

    • +2

Can you be more specific? I would say this phone has a better than average camera.. and what random Chinese phone would you put it up against given the price point it's selling at right now..

      • Look at professional reviews if you want specifics.

  • How's eGlobal for warranty?

    • +5

Doesn't exist. Search ozbargain for eglobal. My experiences were beyond woeful. These guys are just dicks.

    • +9

"eGlobaL may choose to compensate you by a certain percentage of value of the unit price, with the consideration on time of use (12 months at maximum). The percentage value is fixed at 8% each month. For example, if the unit price of your non-repairable products is AUD500, and you have used it for 2 months, the compensation will be AUD423.2. However, such compensation will be issued in the form of eGlobaL store credit only."

      Wow that's really sh*t

      • If you are going to purchase through these guys then use paypal. From my experience I'm quite positive they have a lucrative 2nd hand market happening with returned phones… Yes. Conspiracy theoryish…but still…

        • How would Paypal help? From my brief read of the buyer protection, it looks like it's just in case the item isn't received or isn't what you ordered?

        • Perhaps some of the insurances available through credit cards like 28Degrees would cover it?

        • @Brickles:

I lodged a dispute. They kept changing t&c's. One minute they could repair then they couldn't. Then they had parts then they didn't. Then they offered me less as a refund than their t&c's on their site. Then they reoffered but still less. Paypal refunded me my money. Took 4 weeks talking to eglobal and about 2 weeks with paypal. Paypal were fantastic.

I posted about it on ozbargain. Search though my username and you should find it.

        • @bhm133: Clicked your name and saw some recent posts, but couldn't find the one that you are referring to. If you have easy access to it, could you post a link please?

  • +3

unsure of phone and seller…sounds like a bloody good deal

    • +3

I got the 64gb for my wife. It is grey import but delivered in 3 business days via dhl in Sydney metro area.

No issues and works like a charm. Don't know about warranty but had no issues with delivery and phone.

I actually checked the imei number online and it's not stolen :p

Because it's shatterproof, should last longer than usual.

    • +2

Also unsure of seller and am awaiting confirmation from my fellow Ozb faithful

    • +15

Shit, in my experience. Consider your warranty next to worthless. I returned my bootlooping LG G4 to them and they agreed to repair it under warranty. Only to turn around two months later after I chased them to tell me that it couldn't be repaired! Instead they offered me $250 in store credit for an item I paid $550 for, not to mention another $50 in postage and insurance. Avoid. these. shysters. like. the. plague. Fk eglobal and fk LG.

      • +3

After reading this they should be banned from Ozbargain.

        • +1

OZBARGAIN MODS - can we have a warning sign or something associated with specific sellers so users can make an informed decision?

Just get /u/pupdog to provide proof of negative experience….

I purchased this item and now am worried, this should be a feature on the site to look after your users.

        • +1

          @Filthy-Frankfurt:

For your peace of mind, you have 7 days to report DOA phones.

"If you find yourself having received wrong or Dead on Arrival (DOA) goods, you must notify us within 7 days of receiving the goods. We will acknowledge receipt of your request and advise you the proper procedure of returning the goods to us.

They also deliver via DHL so it should reasonably be safe.

Don't forget, every site/shop would always a negative feedback from someone. Its your choice to do the research and weigh the risks.

Have a look here for the feedback of other people. (http://www.productreview.com.au/p/e-global-digital-cameras.h…). Some have good reviews, others are bad.

The only thing I don't like about their return policy is forking out the postage return. That's expensive when your sending it back to HK from Australia.

link for warrany in case you need it. (hope not)
          https://www.eglobaldigitalcameras.com.au/warranty-return-pol…
          https://www.eglobaldigitalcameras.com.au/return.html <- DOA policy

        • +1

thanks kindly for your comment! agreed, I think if there's a little icon next to the seller e.g strikes from bad user experience

it provides a simple yet effective way to check whether the seller is reputable. My issue with product review.com is that some of the reviews are preposterous and shouldnt of been published which gives a false reading.

I have trusted and still trust the OZB community due to their diligence with money.

  • +4

Although this is shatterproof it's definitely not scratchproof (also doesn't quite have the same feel as glass on the front layer), so consider buying a cheap tempered glass protector for the front.

    • +1

      Also not waterproof.

      • nor fireproof

        • +1

          Or earthquake proof!

    • +1

I believe the outer layer is a bit like a plastic screen protector that can be replaced. I think they call it "Moto ShatterShield™ Replacement Lens" and seems to be US$30 on their site: https://www.motorola.com/us/products/moto-shattershield-repl…

      • +1

I've had this phone for 6 months, good luck getting the shatter shield replacement in Australia, I recommend you don't use this phone until you get a good screen protector like the nilkin amazing h+

  • +4

I think there is a discount code Autumn on their website, may need to login or signup to use.

    • +1

      Gives me $8.67 discount.

  • +2

    Why say "plus shipping"?

Its the same padded $25 no matter what made-up n-digit zip code you enter.

Still a great phone for $314 delivered. I'd personally choose this over any Apple or Samsung.

  • -5

    no nfc.

    • +3

Why do you say that? Specifications on Moto website says it does.

  • how does this compare to the Lenovo Zuk?

    • +2

Haven't used this device so I can't directly compare personally, but you can get a Zuk Z2 for $230 shipped at DX.

I much prefer the 5" phone size and don't get much benefit from the 2560x1440. The Zuk is faster on paper, plus double the storage. Build quality is also fantastic in my uneducated opinion.

      • Thanks for reminding me about the ZUK Z2, after looking around at everything I settled on the Z2 even though it doesn't have NFC. Paypal and CC insurances should serve me well.

Not comfortable with the potential issues with the screen and chipset of these older moto phones.

      • The software installed on my review unit was flashed by the Chinese reseller that sent the phone, and has been set up very much with an international buyer in mind.

Google Play Store support is included, so grabbing the likes of YouTube, Google Mail and Google Drive isn't an issue, but there's no way to update the phone's firmware.

Presumably this option has been omitted because Lenovo's OTA updates don't work outside of China, but it's a rather extreme workaround – it means that out of the box, the Z2 will never receive any automatic updates. I also noticed annoying bugs, such as downloads randomly hanging in the Google Play Store.

As is often the case with Android, it's relatively easy to flash the official Chinese ROM, switch the language to English and source APK files for core Google apps, thus solving these irksome issues.

However, casual users might find this process a little intimidating, and flashing ROMs always carries a risk; you could potentially brick your shiny new phone.

        http://www.trustedreviews.com/lenovo-zuk-z2-review

What is your experience re these potential issues with Zuk Z2?

        • +1

Sorry but I can't advise because I flashed an unofficial ROM straight away, as I have with every android device i've ever owned. There is definitely a risk of course but it's minor if you are technically competent. I didn't even bother looking what stock software my Z2 came with honestly.

  • I've got a Snapdragon 810 phone and I am not a fan. It's a Nexus 6P and lately I'm having nothing but issues.

When it gets warm (chips is prone to it) my Bluetooth signal reduces significantly.

  • +1

This is a really good deal. Better than most phones under $450.

  • +2

Wanted to buy, but this "green lines" thing has me running scared - it's been a recurring problem for at least a year and a half, and seeing as these guys aren't local, you'll have a hell of a time negotiating a warranty replacement.

Insane specs for a crazy low price though… I guess it's cheap because it's got that green line thing counting against it?

    • +3

It's cheap because of low sales volume and it's also been replaced 6 months ago by the newer Moto Z Force with updated SD820 chipset, with support for fingerprint scanner, moto mods and all the modern stuff.

  • +1

Should I just wait for the Moto G5 or this…

  • +1

$284.05 delivered from DWI eBay using code CAU5 until midnight. Added that and discount code to post.

    • Yes they are the same company

  • I'm really tempted to go for this phone however, as there are 6gb RAM phones that have 4000mAH batteries that cost significantly cheaper, I don't know and should I wait until September when my contract runs out? dunno?

    • Where are these phones you speak of might I ask?

      • +1

search up 6gb ram at Dealsmachine.com

        • +1

Those phones look really dodgy. As if they just got some components with impressive names and just glued them together in a lump.

        • @dexx:

Those phones might not be for you, but you can't really say brands like OnePlus, Xiaomi and LeTV are known for bad manufacturing quality. Don't know much about the Umi, but looks slick to me for the price.

    • +2

Haha do not buy a random Chinese phone. Brands like xiaomi, huwaei, oneplus, lenovo all make great phones with fit and finish comparable to say a Samsung. Phones from generic brands though can fill the spec sheet but skimp on elements other elements and have issues with software, low camera quality, headphone jack audio output, build quality, screen quality, battery quality just to name a few. Stick to phones there are reviews of

      • funny how all those brands you mentioned have nearly all parts if not all parts assembled or manufactured in china. you don't make sense mate. what do you mean by a 'generic brand'?

        • You probably can't find reviews for generic brand phones they are the companies with no brand reputation to uphold so they often ship units with poor quality elements, of course most parts are made in china but not all 1080p screens or 16mp camera sensors are created equal for instance.
You can ship phones from the brands I mentioned directly from china for much cheaper than western brands like samsung or sony for a comparable product….but it isn't worth going cheaper than that because the quality trade off is too big, you might get lucky but it is a gamble

  • +2

I'm not familiar with this phone but the presence of the 810 chip sets off alarm bells. The 810 was notorious for overheating and is best avoided, I think. I'd consider getting a Xiaomi Mi5 instead for not much more. It has last years speedy 820 chip and like the Moto 3/32GB, fair build quality & camera and turns up on special here every now and again.

    • +1

You make a fair point, but got to keep in mind the fact that you're getting SD810 performance for the price of a mid-ranger, as well as B28.

  • Pity so many new Androids lack SD cards for expandable memory.

  • How does the Motorola Moto M compare to this? I feel the Moto M is a better phone for another 60 bux or so.

    • +2

The Moto M is a mid-ranger phone, and it looks like its running an equally outdated chipset, the Mediatek Helio P10. Because it's so old (before 2015) the phone doesn't do 4G/3G simultaneously, so it won't work as a dual sim device.

The best Moto out there is currently still the Moto Z, although there are plans to release a new one later this year.

  • Hmm.. this, or xiaomi redmi note 4x, or mi5.
The unbreakable screen part is tempting

  • Is the DWI eBay deal reputable for warranty?

  • Love this phone, great price, great deal.

  • How is this compare to G4 Plus? Wouldn't the other be better on value for money?

    • I ordered the G4 Plus in the sale last week, hasn't been sent yet :( I'm in two minds about this. I got the 3Gb RAM / 32Gb storage G4 Plus which is similar to this Moto X, but the G4 Plus has a much slower CPU: Snapdragon 617 which is a quad-core A53 1.5Ghz + quad-core A53 1.2Ghz. The Moto X is a Snapdragon 810 which is a quad-core A57 2Ghz + quad-core A53 1.5Ghz, but apparently can run really hot.

I'm curious how slow the G4 Plus really is in use though (I don't play mobile games, just web browsing)

EDIT: The Moto X's 810 doesn't really look that good at all:

      https://arstechnica.com/gadgets/2015/04/in-depth-with-the-sn…

But neither does the Moto G4's 617 chip:

      http://www.androidbeat.com/2016/05/moto-g4-plus-suffer-from-…

      • 810 is a terrible chipset, doesn't matter if its Moto, HTC or a no name brand .. I've got it in my M9 and i warn everyone away from it.

        • +2

810 overheat issue is very common. Where as 617 is actually not too bad. Plus you get dual SIM + MicroSD card seperate slots, no other phones including Xiaomi has this feature not even Huawei, also suppoting B28. Which is why I thought G4 plus still the best value for money with its Nougat Update

If you are not a gamer I won't bother with another chipset

        • Can the 810 chipset be underclocked to run cooler?

        • +1

@dexx: not unless the manufacturer has done that, LG supposedly did this with my wifes G Flex 2 (yes it did run cooler but lag'd more)… that phone is now sitting on my desk totally dead… whether that's LG's bad manufacturing process or the chip-set i don't know… i just stay away from phones with that chipset and so did a majoriy of manufacturers at the time it was released… most subsequent phones used the 808 or the 6xx or a helio based one… just to be safe stay away from any phone with that chipset .. thats my advice from my experience.

        • @scud70:
Guess I'll end up with the redmi note 4x after all - appreciate the heads up on the 810 issues

      • Thanks for the links, nice to see how crap the 810 is quantified.

It's a shame, I thought this Moto X was going to be an my replacement for my release day Nexus 5 (mic not working, on its way out).

I am after a 5.0" to 5.6" screen, with NFC, compass, close to original android experience (+ fast charge and micro usb on my wish list), up to $500 aud.

Anyone else in the same boat, what have you found?

        • +2

I'm in exactly the same boat, and was just about ready to pull the trigger on this one until I did some reading on the 810. Here's what I've been finding:

          • Oneplus 3T is at the top of my list, although currently it's closer to AU$550. No LTE Band 28 seems to be the only significant shortcoming, and even then, YMMV. NotebookCheck.net have an exceptionally detailed review here - http://www.notebookcheck.net/OnePlus-3T-Smartphone-Review.18…
          • Xiaomi Mi 5 is another, and seems to go for around AU$300-350. No LTE Band 28 again, and the screen seems a bit subpar with a low refresh rate. Again, YMMV as to whether that's important to you.
          • ZTE Axon 7 might just edge under $500, depending on where you look. Should have Band 28, depending on the model, has great speakers, but an average screen. http://www.notebookcheck.net/ZTE-Axon-7-Smartphone-Review.18…
          • Samsung Galaxy S5 is great value if you don't mind an older phone, or want to avoid grey imports. They've been going as low as $367 (Aussie stock/warranty), and have everything (except maybe fast charge). Mind you, it doesn't represent much of an upgrade from your Nexus 5.
          • Zuk Z2 or LeEco Le Max 2 are outstanding value if you can live without NFC.
        • @Priapist: tbh at these prices I'd buy the best of both worlds.

ZUK Z2 plus the Xperia XA as a backup phone (we always need one at some point, plus is has NFC for the times you need that)

  • SD810 is gonna burn you battery quickly even on ideal, but luckly 3700+mah should still last a full day.

    • Yeah about a day and a half with medium use.

      • that is pretty good Battery Life.

  • I see the Motorola Moto X Force XT1580 3gb ram 32gb 4G Single Sim - Black for $315 locally here.. shipping?

    https://www.dwidigitalcameras.com.au/astore/Motorola-Moto-X-…

    • It's not local stock, it's china quick dispatch. Same company as eGlobal anyway.

  • Ordered this 2 days ago for a mate. Estimated delivery Thu, 06 Apr - Tue, 11 Apr.

It bloody arrived today! Gotta hand it to DWI / eGlobal. Their shipping is insanely quick.

  • +1

I received my phone today. It is not a brand new phone, it is a refurbished! Buyers watch out!

    • Wow just wow, I would not of expected that from this retailer. Usually from electronic sellers in HK markets/hub are often refurbed with new outer shells.

    • +1

How do u know its not brand new?

      • +1

The seal has been cut open. The items inside, even though been put back carefully, there is a sign of being opened / used too.

        • What ended up happening

  • +1

i have had 2 of these phones since it came out (first got stolen and loved it so much had to get another). Not a single ''green band'' issue or anything like that!
dropped it so many times!! HARD !!! and never cracked

    • I must be unlucky. Just got the green screen issue. I'll now get to experience their rma process.

  • Ordered and received promptly. Works brilliantly, thanks for the link!

  • +1

Still waiting for $701 owed by eglobal. 36 days so far.
