I'm tired of bringing this up but you do know that it's against paypal's TOS for you to charge a fee for customers who pay using paypal? You can't just push your paypal fees on the customer.

    https://www.paypal.com/cgi-bin/webscr?cmd=p/gen/terms-outsid…

"You agree that you will not impose a surcharge or any other fee for accepting PayPal as payment."

We currently only accept PayPal with a 2% surcharge, due to the higher processing costs of accepting it. We also offer our customers alternative methods of payment that do not occur any additional fees. We do this as we don't want to charge our customers more on every purchase (2% extra on all prices) when many are happy to use a different payment method, that doesn't incur higher processing fees, and thus get lower prices.

Australian regulators, like the RBA and ACCC, appear to echo the sentiment that merchants are allowed to pass on reasonable payment handling fees to customers, where they occur. We like to be upfront about it - we accept PayPal, but there is a surchage that reflects part of the costs we incur to provide it.

You can dance around the issue all you like but it is still against PayPal's TOS and you can get in trouble for it.

      • Still, does Paypal know you are ignoring their terms of service?

        • Hot if you want to cover yourself increase the price and offer a 2% discount for paying by other methods.

  • i'm looking to buy 2 identical LCD projectors. budget projectors but has to be a name brand eg sanyo/epson/viewsonic as opposed to ebay brands.

any suggestions or offers? can be anything from xvga to 4k is fine, as long as the dollar to performance is good ;)

    • looking to create a polarized 3D setup ?

      • yep =) but not what you think. i've got a trick up my sleeve to make lcd pjs work without external polarisers.

i've made a 3d monitor last year with 17inch panels. a bit small for my taste lol

        • Care to share ?

I have heard you can use a single PJ for 3D if it supports "Nvidia 3D Vision"

"…it would be crazy not to mention Nvidia's 3D Vision option at this point. Nvidia's solution allows us to use a single projector and the convenience of Nvidia's free proprietary software. The potential advantage when a hardware developer tackles the stereoscopic 3D component itself is undeniable."

            @systmworks: i'm glad you're interested!

the principle of a 2-LCD PJ passive polarised 3D display is the same as a 2LCD display.

            http://www.wired.com/gadgets/mods/magazine/16-09/pl_screen

This link explains how you can use the LCD's intrinsic polarisation to passively achieve 2 polarised images at 90deg to each other. I made the design on that link and things work as well as one could've hoped. just wish the display was larger.

            http://www.flickr.com/photos/47351774@N02/

now with 2 LCD PJs, firstly you still need the 50% mirror. secondly, the trick is to realise that red+blue are polarised at 45deg, and green channel is polarised at -45deg. this means that to use the 50% mirror trick, you need to output red+blue channels from image A to pj A, while green channel from image A to pj B. Vice Versa. This way you make use of the PJ's natural polarisation without further cutting light with external polariser, or introducing blur.

with single pj 3D, i presume that's still an active shutter glasses type. i'm not too interested in them, though the software behind making 3D work should still be the same.

The link you provided is interesting, shows that tridef is able to give many 3D applications 3D outputs.

how does that all sound to you?

            • @kimmik: Thanks for the info… I will read over that link… 3D projector setup is on my wish list…
