Be very careful when you go through the sign up process and make sure you deselect the option (not obvious) where they make an automatic deduction from your card and accumulate funds for future purchases. (I think it's called something like becoming an 'angel').

They are also very persistent about trying to retain you if you decide to close your account. They option to close your account is not as easy to find as it should be.

I haven't been involved with them for some time so perhaps the above info is no longer relevant but still may be.

These vouchers are very common at a lot of stores without a $100 spend. I get offered them quite often.

    • You can have them refund the automated deductions at any time - I've been a member for a few years, and very infrequently purchase. I get them to refund the cash every so often. They try to sell me more wine instead of refunding it, but I just tell them I'm not interested at the moment. Never had any trouble with getting my money back, and as they say on their website (I believe), it's always your money, you can always take it back.

      • I know that. Just pointing out that you can avoid getting into that situation in the first place if you watch carefully what you are signing up for. Some people cant afford to be missing $$$ on an ongoing basis. ;-)

          Yeah, that's fair.
My point was mainly that it's not really dangerous as you don't lose your money, can always be undone.

      • You let a company hold your funds for a product you aren't intending to purchase and then have to go through a process to get the funds back?

That sounds completely crazy, given you potentially are paying credit card interest against this, or could be earning interest if it's coming out of a transaction account…

        • I didn't say I'm not intending to purchase anything, just that I infrequently make a purchase.

$40 a month is 10 cents of interest (for the month) @ 3%. It would be around $8 in interest you've lost for the year. If someone isn't paying their credit card off in full, they probably need finance lessons, not wine. It earns CC points (probably isn't more than the interest you'd earn on the money, no).

I wouldn't really call it a process, you just tell them to refund it and they do.

By 'participating' in this, you get a free bottle of wine each month (if you buy 11 others, and the free wine expires and doesn't stack). You might also get cheaper wines overall, I don't remember.

So, at most it costs $10 a year in lost interest, $0 in CC interest, earns 480-720 (?) points, and gets me a free $20-30 bottle of wine when I decide to make a purchase.

  • Is this only for new customers to Naked Wines, or can existing customers get it?

    • I'm interested in knowing this too. I'm already with Naked Wines (ooh, lucky I spotted the autocorrect there, it tried to make it "wives" 😁) so getting some extra credits would be nice.

  • Coles GC buy can?

What? You can make purchases instore at Myer with a Coles Myer GC but not a Coles only GC. Online you can't use either. You can't purchase Coles GC in store at Myer either, only Coles Myer GC.

TBH I can't say that is a deal. I've received $100 off cards from this mob before and also from Hello Fresh. Even with the cheapest 12 bottle package, you would still be spending $50+.

It's just a way to get customers through their doors.

  • Would not recommend these wines…but that's me

  • The wines are terrible
